The architects have used traditional bricks in the exterior but experimented with altering brick patterns to break the monotony of the material. Materials chosen for interiors help maintain a minimalistic approach, and by integrating small courts, the architects manage to depict the house as an introverted built mass.
2. SHREE BUNGALOW, ALKAPURI, VADODARA

The clients needed to merge the inside and out bringing the landscape closer to them, which in turn is achieved by neatly stacking rectangular volumes, maximizing the spaces, and helping the edifice breathe. The use of large openings helps achieve ample natural light, ventilation, and a clear vision of the surroundings. Conceptualizing landscape as an essential function and juxtaposing earthy materials with neat lines led the architects to magnify boundaries of various activities, procreating an aura of purity.

Amongst the high rise buildings and commercial complexes of Akota, Vadodara lies the Patel’s House, establishing its identity as an urban retreat. The house is built on strict dimensions and proportions, amalgamating nature, and instituting a peaceful environment, as the client required.
