A special situation, a generous entrance square is the access to a “white” space oriented entirely to the outside. Moreover, apart from the functional requirements, it is also the only starting point.

The intention starts from the square, with the proposal of some elements on the scale of the urban space, which play the role of pawns and announce the reception in a “hospitality” area. Irregular shapes occupy space but also create space. A common table and bench that bring people together, at the same time where they can create their own limits to be intimidated by orientation, proximity, depth.

The morphology of the bistro starts from an articulation through a central object that continues the same sinuous/sculpted language, a morphological homage to all the ‘magnet’ islands in the Spanish Mercatos. The rest of the functions are subordinated to this positioning: the kitchen directly connected and the bathroom connected on the opposite side. This proposed limit traces different areas for experiencing the interior: the entrance area, more dynamic with a higher position; the carved area in front of the bar, a common table as a central piece; the back area adjacent to the kitchen, an articulated sofa area with an inclined mirror that allows you to view the entire space.

Moving to the upper level, the suspended structure strengthens the center and establishes an intimidation of the bar, also helped by the one person gap, specially executed to be able to work with the space on a “social” level as well. The vertical layering closes with the curve of the ceiling, a strong intention that better functions the “production” spaces and which, on the other side, opens up the entire serving area. At the same time, it orients the entire space outwards. It structures a lower plan, shifting attention from all ventilation and cooling installations.

The existing concrete is kept and sealed, the terracotta floor continues the sentimental mineral present on the outside, uniting the square with the interior, the ash background supports the central piece, the bar, plated with ceramics specially designed and executed for Boiler. The lighting completes the speech, being focused on the key areas, almost like a “shadow” (quoting Rembrandt) and not as an active presence.
