The main idea was to re-connect the city and downtown area to local qualities, bring them back to life, bring nature back into the city, being the human nature and culture and create a home for the Dominican Republic identity. This Urban development complex’ strives to become a meeting place, an urban focal point, a connection between the cultural and natural of the city in one place.

The design language was inspired by the unique nature of the island, the structures and shapes, their motion as they are also being used in the cultural folk dances, the colors of the traditional cloths and local art.

The ground and first floor of the project, will open up towards those local qualities, products and events. Dominican Republic art, design, fashion, and music will have their free expression in this complex, local products and gastronomy will show in its food court and main garden. On the green urban roof, a promenade between pop up installations and urban farming, a small roof “forest” made a combination of local vegetation.
