Airbnb has recently collaborated with Mattel to create a life-sized Slumber Party version of the famous Polly Pocket, in her hometown of Littleton, Massachusetts.
In celebration of Polly Pocket’s 35th anniversary, this two-story, 42-foot-tall rounded, shell-shaped structure allows guests to experience a blend of nostalgia and fantasies. Carefully chosen details, dominating pastel colours, and retro furniture contrast with the tranquil surroundings of the Massachusetts landscape. The compact has taken the “tiny but mighty” spirit to a new level.
Some surprise-filled nooks and corners keep the guests always engaged. Once inside the iconic plastic compact, it’s divided into various themed spaces including a vanity room, living room, and closet. Each space has been meticulously curated to create the nostalgia of the 90’s.
Dominated by pink and purple pastels, the backdrop is further accompanied by splashes of colour from yellow rugs, chairs, and stairs, the teal of a TV set, fridge, fireplace, and sofa. The attention to detail extends to the materials used, with the surfaces mimicking the gummy texture and smooth finishes, hallmarks of Polly Pocket toys.
With a visually playful setting, guests can fully immerse themselves in the doll experience, by getting ready at Polly’s vanity filled with nail accessories of Polly’s favourite colour. The compact houses a snack-filled retro fridge and guests can even try iconic Polly’s clothes from Polly’s closet. After a fun-filled day, the guests can lounge on Polly’s pull out couch or a life-sized Action Park tent, located 10 feet away from the compact.
The compact can host up to 4 guests and is available for three one-night stays from September 12 to 14, 2024. The bookings are scheduled to start on August 21, 2024. This isn’t the first time AirBnB has created nostalgic settings with the previous creation of Barbie’s Dreamhouse. Adding to the part of their “Icons” series, the Polly Pocket compact in Massachusetts pays a nostalgic tribute to the colourful world of Polly Pocket on its 35th anniversary, providing once in a lifetime experience for fans to relieve their childhood memories.
