About innovative Problem Solving Design Solution

Innovative Problem-Solving Design is the process of developing a creative, new, and effective method of solutions to solve complex design problems in an easy and human-centric way. This approach integrates various methodologies, tools, and mind-sets, thinking processes, for faster innovation. Innovative Problem Solving Design helps give faster solutions for complex problems. This type of innovative solution is for all types of problems including disabled people (which are referred to as the universal design principle). It is also called Creative thinking because it refers to new innovative solutions.

Design Thinking

Design thinking is the problem-solving methodology; it’s a process to express solutions to complex and all types of problems in various ways and ideas. It is a journey of a thinking process to reach the goal of the solution to a complex problem. Design thinking gives a brainstorming process that can open and provide new ways to see the problems with various solutions. Design thinking is a non-linear process. It is important that each stage of the process can (and should) inform the other steps. It’s a never-ending iterative process. It’s always providing unique and new solutions in various ways.

It’s a process of solving problems by prioritising customer’s needs above all else.

Why use the design thinking Process ?

There are some reasons behind the use of the design thinking process                                        1. Focus on problem-solving –

The design thinking process is helpful to focus on problems from many different angles and points of view to achieve a strong solution. This process requires focusing on human needs and behaviours and how to create solutions to match those needs.   This process is helpful to focus on creative solutions.

  1. Encourages collaboration and teamwork –

This design thinking process is encouraging for (out of the box) thinking, which means encouraging to not think in a particular way. It requires various viewpoints from designers, future customers, and other stakeholders. It encourages brainstorming sessions and collaboration, and this is the backbone of the design thinking process.

  1. Providing new ideas and leads to innovative solutions –

The design thinking process provides new ideas and opens a new approach to see solutions to all types of problems in new ways. It provides a new angle, provides patience during problem conditions with this thinking process, it provides a strong and unique solution to handle problems in any situation or all types of the complexity of problems. Because of this all reasons design thinking should be used for the solution of all types of problem

The Stages of Design Thinking

  1. Empathise Stage –

This is the first stage of design thinking, the designer observes and tries to understand the client’s or customer’s needs, and the designer tries to understand the perspective of the customer’s needs and approach towards problems. Also the designer tries to understand the depth, intensity, and level of the problem. So basically it’s an observation stage to proceed further according to the analysis of observation. This observation happened with empathy. Observing with empathy is powerful because it can uncover issues the consumer didn’t even know they had or that they could not themselves verbalise. From this point, it’s easier to understand the human need for which you are designing.

  1. Define Stage –

In this second stage the problem can be defined based on observation analysis. Designers can think and study customers’ difficulties, and struggles with problems and designers can define actual problem structure. I.e. a designer once properly understands the actual problem’s structure then he or she (the designer) can define the problem that customers are facing.

  1. Ideate Stage –

In this third stage brainstorming ideas take place. This step helps solve the problem that is identified. The ideation sessions or communication could be in groups, where all types of members, and team people can gather in an office space which encourages creativity or collaboration.  This stage can be done in a solo manner. The important part is to generate a bunch of different ideas. At the end of this process, you’ll come up with a few ideas with which to move forward.

  1. Prototype Stage –

In this stage, the designer and his/her team members design various options of inexpensive or scaled-down versions of the potential solutions to the problems. They design various types of solutions and options for problems. Having these various types of versions of the prototype gives the designer and his/her team members opportunities to test out the solution and make any refinements. During this process, it’s important to document the testers using the end product. This will give you valuable information as to what parts of the solution are good, and which require more changes.

  1. Test

In this test stage, after testing different prototypes out with teasers, your team should have different solutions for how your product can be improved. The testing and prototyping phase is an iterative process – so much so that some design projects may never end.

This all is a design thinking stage after designers take the time to test, reiterate, and redesign new products, they may find new problems, and different solutions, and gain an overall better understanding of the end-user. The design thinking framework is flexible and non-linear, so it’s normal for the process itself to influence the end design.

Challenges of Design Thinking :

  1. Behaviours, Feelings, and Choices –

In the initial stage, design thinking can sometimes feel a bit personal and subjective. It focuses on understanding people’s wants, needs, behaviour, emotions, choices, and feelings, based on these factors. The design thinking process takes place. With the help of these all factors or according to these factors of customers design thinking can achieve their ways for further process.

  1. Exploration and Discovery –

Design thinking encourages exploration and discovery instead of hurrying toward a solution. Because of design thinking, exploration and discovery, one can get various types of solutions for various types of problems. Innovative solutions can be achieved through exploration and discovery from various sides. Design thinking urges us to pause, explore less obvious options, and potentially unearth innovative solutions that push boundaries and spark creativity.

  1. The Need to Be Comfortable with Ambiguity –

Design thinking is the necessity to be comfortable with ambiguity. Yes, design thinking presents challenges, but it’s these very hurdles that make the approach so unique and rewarding, pushing us to think differently and fostering innovation.

  1. Understanding the Limitations –

Design Thinking emphasises empathy, prototyping, and iterative learning, which can be incredibly valuable. However, it’s essential to recognize that this methodology is not a one-size-fits-all solution and can sometimes falter in specific contexts.
