Last December we presented our installation “On Blank Pages” in Xi’an, China, as part of the first edition of the Chang’an International Light Festival, curated by Wavelength and organized at the Xi’an MixC complex.
Project Name: On Blank Pages
Studio Name: Luzinterruptus

The piece is located beneath a pedestrian bridge at the main entrance of the site and takes the form of a large circular structure covered with thousands of notebooks and illuminated from within. It functions as a wall of light and words: a collective surface where the public can write, read, and transform the work through their own contributions.

The installation enters into dialogue with a contemporary, futuristic architectural environment by introducing a humble, everyday material: paper. The fragility of the pages contrasts with the scale and solidity of the space, while the reflective ceiling of the bridge visually multiplies the light and the notebooks, intensifying the experience and expanding the presence of the work within its surroundings.

Over the course of approximately two months, the piece remains active and in constant transformation. Public interventions accumulate, pages move, light shifts, and the installation becomes a living collective archive, continuously evolving.

“On Blank Pages” is a project we have carried out in different cities around the world. The Xi’an version stands out for its duration, the intensity of public participation, and the dialogue between the delicacy of paper and the architectural power of the site.
