The interior was designed to evoke serenity and functionality, where the purity of minimalist lines meets the sensory depth of natural materials. Soft beige tones—drawn from the colour and texture of sand—embrace the oak floors and wall panels, while pale ceilings enhance natural light and reinforce the sense of openness. The volume containing the sanitary facilities is clad in grey mirror, emerging as a sculptural element that, through reflection, softens spatial boundaries and extends perception, bringing lightness and continuity throughout the apartment.

The main living area unfolds as an open, fluid composition that seamlessly connects the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, with a laundry area discreetly integrated into the layout. This configuration supports flexibility and spatial coherence, shaping an atmosphere that is both elegant and welcoming—a refined backdrop for everyday life.

The bedroom becomes a tranquil, self-contained sanctuary, complete with an en-suite bathroom and generous wardrobe, offering comfort and privacy in an environment defined by balance and harmony.

The intervention establishes a subtle dialogue between simplicity and sophistication, between functionality and emotion, crafting a domestic experience deeply connected to its setting and in constant conversation with the natural beauty of the coastline.

“With Barra Apartment, our intention was to translate the tranquil and timeless character of the beach into a livable, emotional space,” said Paulo Martins. “We designed a home that feels simultaneously rooted in its surroundings and a gentle escape from the world outside. For clients with such demanding lives, the goal was to create a true sanctuary—somewhere to rest, to breathe, and to find harmony. This project celebrates thoughtful design, using honest materials to shape a calm, harmonious, and genuinely bespoke living experience.”
