Crafted in the heart of Chembur, Mumbai, a low-maintenance, elegance-filled home evolves with the family that resides in it. Reflecting sensitive understanding of both the client’s vision and the young family’s lifestyle, the home was designed to be understated yet expressive.

The brief for the residence was refreshingly clear: a low-maintenance home that grows with the family at an aligned pace. The clients, parents of two young daughters aged seven and nine, desired a home that epitomized femininity without the spaces being childish or fleeting, Prioritizing practicality, timelessness and a decluttered layout, the clients wanted a house with no open shelves or unnecessary nooks. It resulted into a home that honors longevity without compromising on the individual personality traits.
The living room establishes a strong sense of openness and continuation visually uniting
different spaces. The Tundra Grey Italian marble flooring establishes a sophisticated and durable foundation of the material palette throughout. A perfect amount of warmth and visual interest is added to the wall using Fiddleback Mahogany veneer. The client’s vision of achieving elegance throughout was fulfilled using a neutral palette of beige and grey accented with soft gold and ambient lighting. Powder blue cabinets in the kitchen contrast the subtle flooring and dining table. Every material and design choice caters to the client’s desire for both refined aesthetics and minimal upkeep particularly in the spaces like living, dining and kitchen.
Conceived as a deeply personal space, the master bedroom is a haven of tranquility blending soft blues and inviting beiges. As the comforting wooden texture in the flooring bestow warmth to the room, the room turns into a serenity-filled sanctuary. The restful palette, uncluttered layout and the practical choice of materials embody timeless sophistication. A sense of dramatic luxury unfolds in the master bathroom as the dark metallic blue tiles establish a captivating mood. Their intensity is toned down to bring a perfect balance by the delicate rose gold accents. The bathroom ensures ease of maintenance and endurance with the help of the appropriate fittings and materials.
Designed beyond fleeting trends, the thoughtfully designed bedroom for the client’s two young daughters is a story between femininity and elegance. Delicate touches of soft pink and yellow infuse the space with youthful charm, while the elegant textures of Pink Corian and fluted glass accentuate the space with a subtle refinement. Whimsical, wave-inspired curves on furniture and walls evoke a sense of curiosity and growth. Crucially, this design transcends typical childhood aesthetics, fulfilling the intended idea of having a space that gracefully evolves with the girls yet remains their haven of calm and order.
The grandparents’ room, wrapped in comforting neutral palette and furnished minimally is a design translation of ease and calmness. Prioritizing both comfort and practicality, the design consciously minimizes visual distractions. The selection of durable, easy-to-clean materials supports a deep requirement of a mature household, ensuring lasting comfort without the fuss. The bathroom in this room offers a certain freshness with its crisp blue and white palette while it continues to make a statement with sophisticated black fixtures. Crafted thoughtfully for the young lasses and the guests, the common bathroom features cheerful pink and yellow striped tiles paired with fold and black fixtures. The space, a visually joyful treat is balanced by sleek sanitaryware and long-lasting full-body tiles.
At its core, this Chembur residence is a successful manifestation of the architect Hiral Nisar and team’s ideology: that practical homes do not need to compromise aesthetics. From tile-clad corridors that battle Mumbai’s monsoon dampness to textured laminates that bestow visual intrigue, every decision in this project was rooted in wise play of aesthetics.
