Tucked away in the heart of Nashik, this 1000 sqft apartment presented a familiar challenge;making the most of a compact space without losing its sense of openness. Home to an Indian couple and their two children, a son and a daughter, the apartment needed to accommodate ample storage, something they felt was missing in their previous home. Blessed with generous natural light from its south-facing openings, the space offered a unique advantage that shaped the design approach.

The design story unfolds through a thoughtful material palette of oak wood, textured laminates, and natural stone, materials that reflect and enhance light, adding warmth without heaviness. In the living area, a paneled backdrop for the TV seamlessly integrates storage beneath it. Clean-lined grooves give it a monolithic feel, blending functionality with a crisp, modern aesthetic. The dining space was opened up by relocating the washbasin, creating a more fluid arrangement. A softly lit display crockery unit anchors the space, adding both character and practicality.

Each bedroom reflects the personality of its occupant. The son’s room, shaped around his love for the Avengers, was designed to adapt to his playful energy. Inspired by the Murphy bed concept, the design allows flexibility—maximizing open space while housing essential functions like a concealed study table and a wardrobe. A striking Indian stone panel behind the bed offsets the oak tones, adding texture and depth.

The daughter’s room channels comfort and charm. A cozy window seat doubles as a reading nook, paired with a dressing mirror. Custom-built movable side tables make the most of the compact space, while a wardrobe with cross-guided grooves ensures a cohesive look.
The master bedroom embraces a sophisticated monochrome palette. Deep, textured wood and fluted glass wardrobes set the tone, while gold-accented lamps against a black headboard and abstract artwork add subtle drama. Upholstered elements soften the space, creating a cocoon of comfort.

Mridu is designed to grow with the family—a timeless blend of warmth, light, and functionality where every corner reflects thoughtful design.
