The architectural firm AS Arquitetas SP, led by Luciana Gomes, Julia Brepohl, and Manuela Moreira, undertook the task of remodeling a 170m² apartment in Itaim Bibi, São Paulo, Brazil. The objective was to craft a minimalist setting that mirrors the lifestyle of its new inhabitants: a young, sociable couple and their two Golden Retrievers.

Situated on the second floor, the apartment is graced with a terrace that seems to merge with the surrounding treetops. The entire layout is intentionally oriented to offer views of this greenery, fostering a seamless indoor-outdoor experience.
The renovation, completed in three months, began with the removal of a wall and frame dividing the living room and terrace. This opened up the space, allowing natural light to flood in and facilitating the integration of social areas. The arrangement encourages socializing, whether around the dining table near the gourmet island or in the living room. The use of low, neutrally-toned furniture enhances spatial flow and adds openness.
A striking feature is the exposed concrete corner pillar, discovered during renovations, which adds character to the living room.

Custom woodwork, featuring natural European oak veneer, elegantly connects the gourmet area and living room. Key pieces in these areas include the Joy stool by Jader Almeida from Studio Sollos, Botané coffee tables by Pedro Ribeiro from Cremme, and Ana Neute armchairs from Líder Interiores, each contributing to the space’s unique flair and sophistication.
The solid wood parquet flooring throughout the social areas, corridors, and bedrooms has been restored and lightened, enhancing the natural ambiance.
The kitchen, previously outdated, was transformed with modern, timeless finishes and cabinetry in line with the apartment’s overall theme.
In the master suite, a custom-designed headboard with side tables by AS Arquitetas SP and produced by MSM Móbile complements the neutral palette. The built-in wall unit with low cabinets has been entirely redesigned for discreet, efficient storage.

The second bedroom was reimagined to accommodate sports gear, a home office, and a gym, utilizing custom, multifunctional furniture for optimal space utilization.
AS Arquitetas SP also meticulously planned the lighting, incorporating various indirect sources to create a cozy atmosphere. A notable inclusion is the slim UFO pendant light over the dining table, which elegantly complements the verdant backdrop without obstructing views.
