History of the project (is it a house swap or a renovation of the apartment where the clients already lived?): renovation of the apartment they already lived in. We renovated the living room, balcony and three bedrooms.
Authorship of the project: Architect Camila Fleck, from the office Camila Fleck Arquitetura e Interiores.

Type of property: Linear apartment
Location: Barra da Tijuca, neighborhood in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro
Comment on the view from the apartment: Jacarépaga lagoon. The back of the condo overlooks a forest.
Total area of the apartment: 160 m2

How did customers come to you? We lived in the same condominium, so we always saw each other there. The client followed my work.
What did customers ask you to do? What were the demands made by them? Renovation, total, they wanted to remove the frame from the balcony and align the living room and gourmet. Customers really like to receive. And we changed the old barbecue place, for a table one, so we get a cleaner look. Customers brought references of ash and wood and very modern designs. As for the bedrooms, they hadn’t been moved for 10 years, the living room too, the boys’ room were adapted, the youngest one was still a baby. So we made a project for young men for a new phase. And the double bedroom. The biggest request was desk space as the client is working from home and needs space to move around.

Were all the rooms designed by you? If not, which ones were left out? Kitchen and bathrooms have not been disturbed? Bathrooms and kitchen off this stage.
Was there any change in the property plan? If so, what was it like before and how was it after your interventions? yes, removal of the balcony and demolition of the barbecue, replacement of the floor with new gray porcelain tiles. Rooms the old porcelain tile was replaced by a woody vinyl floor.
With regard to decoration, is everything new or have some pieces from the residents’ collection been reused? What are the main parts maintained? Some pieces kept, books. For children who love basketball, we took advantage of everything they already had and put on some new decorations.

List the current rooms in the apartment after carrying out the renovation (living room, dining room, gourmet balcony, toilet, X suites…): living room, dining room, gourmet room, eldest, youngest and double room.
Project concept and main inspirations: Modern contemporary design. clients had very minimalist references. Comment on the “island sofa”, with seating on all sides, in the middle of the room: We made two initial layouts for the customer to choose from. A living room and dining option is gourmet and the other with an island sofa. Which is very versatile, in addition to accommodating TV viewing almost like a chaise, throwing the backrest behind. It can be a socializing area for friends sitting on both sides for another seating area, the advantage is that it takes up less space than two sofas and has a much lighter look.
What are the highlights of this project? To list in topics (it is worth mentioning signed design furniture, well-thought-out solutions in joinery, integration of environments, decor color palette, works of art, pieces of great affective value, spaces for hobbies, special coatings, etc.).

Integration of spaces, opening onto the veranda. We created a great joinery portal, always raising all ceiling heights as high as possible. This large portal has an illuminated crown molding, which at one point rises 220 meters high due to a beam. We took advantage of the sides to divide the spaces and thus gained cabinets designed with light touch doors. Giving the impression of panels when closed.
Another highlight is a wooden panel enveloping the entire entrance hall.20. Building unit, with sliding door to kitchen. Lumini Guilherme wentz lamp.
Very slim TV cabinet, slatted for electronics, with space for a bar built into the cabinet made of white quartz.
Color palette inspired by the photography of Victor Vasconcelos. Blue and ocher tones. Francino balcony furniture with an emphasis on the preserved green wall accommodating old air conditioning.
Black Granite São Gabriel works great on gourmet and heavily used barbecue grills.25. Fernando Prado lamp, by Lumini and Cement table. Comment on the color palette and the choice of finishes in the social area (floor, walls, joinery) and what you sought to convey with them: I commented above. Considerations about the balcony integrated into the living room: I commented above.

What was the biggest challenge of this project? One of the biggest challenges was the new grill, with an extensive program of refrigerators, wine cellars and the largest grill on the market. And a sink. Despite the bench being large we had a water point, and two refrigerators and a cellar plus barbecue, it measures 80 cm and so we gave up a refrigerator. Another challenge was the installation of the linear luminaire on the plant’s frame, we had to reinforce all the plaster.
Decoration style of the apartment as a whole: Modern Contemporary. Total time between preparing and approving the project: we started the project in February and the work in April. I finish in August of the work. Production we did only in November.
Total time between executing the project and finishing the decoration: Any curiosity to share? Double bedroom project, we increased the ceiling height and made a very clean project. We gained a lot of space by changing the curtain, using a blackout roller. and thus increased the desk space. The youngest boy’s room, the layout was completely reformulated, always favoring natural light on the desks.
