The brief was to design a large pavilion to house conferences and teaching activities and a park to be used to memorialize Gonzalo Rodriguez, a promising race car driver whose life was cut short during a competition.

The architectural design of the pavilion has echoes of the curves and bends of a racing track. Like a race car, the exterior is dynamic and individual while the interior, designed by Zinc, is functional and no frills. While the architecture is resolutely modern, the color scheme and the use of local materials establish a link to the surrounding landscape.

Our architects have worked closely with the landscape architect to create bridges between the landscape and the pavilion, for instance by designing an elegant amphitheater outside of the pavilion using local stone.
