MW architectuur proposed to keep the roof structure separate from the existing roof by creating a shadow strip and to keep it separate from the facades by creating a glass partition. The superstructure itself has a kinked roofline. In this way, it creates space on one side, but on the other side, it also limits the size of the superstructure at the rear to allow enough sunlight into the back garden.

The structure with the buckled roofline also defines the interior from the inside; the wooden roof beams are also buckled, thus forming within the structure.

From the roof superstructure, special views through the existing window into the rest of the house and all around to the surroundings.

The roof structure is clad in Plato wood, a preserved pine wood that is sustainably sourced. The shell of the roof structure is built of timber frame. This construction resulted in a CO2- negative structure.
