A theme park is a park that features an n-number of attractions such as rides, games, funfairs, carnivals, exhibitions, shows, shopping areas, resorts, etc. Theme parks are a type of amusement park that is designed with a central theme or a subject, displaying various parts of that theme. They are permanent structures with huge dedicated land areas.
These parks attract millions of people to experience their adventures annually. It is a source of creative imagination, fantasy, excitement, and memorable adventures. Every theme park is unique in its way, some also reflecting their location’s culture.

1. Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, USA
The Walt Disney World Resort is almost the size of San Francisco with 25,000 Acres of Land. It is so big that it has a private bus network and the world’s largest car parking. The park employs more than 70,000 people at one site location. It has four different theme parks named: Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot.
It also has two water parks Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon and also includes its shopping mall named Disney Springs. They have a long list of rides like Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar’s Flight of Passage, Tower terror, and much more.
They have the best accommodation tucked in Cinderella’s Castle accommodating up to six people. The overnight guests are chosen at random by the park every day.
2. Disneyland Paris, Europe
Disneyland Paris comprises two theme parks—Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park—Disney Nature Resorts, a shopping area, a golf course with additional recreational and entertainment facilities. It is in access to around 4900 acres of land, of which only half has been developed. It celebrated its 25th Anniversary in the year 2017.
Over these years, around 320 million people visited the place making it the most visited theme park in Europe.
3. Shanghai Disneyland, China
It is the most recent Disney resort that opened in 2016. Its site area reached around 1000 Acres. It has one of the largest castles, the Enchanted Storybook Castle, which is a must. Its walkthrough is a whole different experience in itself. Its ‘TRON Lightcycle Power Run’ ride uses motorbike seats to make people feel realistic about riding a motorbike.
To experience a flight over the Great Wall of China, one must ride ‘Soaring over the Horizon’ Ride.
4. Orlando Universal, Florida
It covers more than 500 acres of land. It is considered one of the premier adventure parks in the world. One can be excited to meet Marvel’s megastars here along with the Hogwarts Express, Volcano Bay, and ride Revenge of the Mummy.
Many of its rides are family-friendly like the Simpsons ride. This place also has a large number of options when it comes to accommodations with varying luxuries.
5. Tokyo Disneyland Resort, Japan
This was Disneyland’s first expansion into the foreign (Asian) market which was opened in 1983. Its area expands up to 500 Acres. The design of the place is a perfect blend of Japanese and American society giving its audience a splash of cultures. It is best known for its unique and cute merchandise.
The most popular ride is ‘Pooh’s Hunny Hunt’ where one can follow along with Pooh’s adventures in a pot meeting its fellow cartoon characters. Other rides include Monsters, Inc. Ride and Go seek, etc.
6. Cedar Point, Ohio, USA
Cedar Point expands around 360 acres with a railway going around it. This park is the USA’s second-oldest still operating park since 1870. The railway looks onto the beautiful Lake Eyrie giving its audience one of the most picturesque views. The park also has an occasional ferry service.
Blue Streak is the park’s oldest ride, opened in 1964. Riding this roller coaster gives a feeling of nostalgia. Thrill-seekers coaster rides include Wicked Twister is 66m tall and travels at a speed of 116 kph, and Millenium Force that climbs to 91.4m with a speed of 150 kph.
7. California Disneyland, USA
Disneyland Park was originally the smallest of the Magic Kingdom opened in 1955. This is the only theme park that was designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. The Disneyland resort is a part of the pack because it includes the Disney California Adventure Park as well. The area is around 160 acres. It also has Downtown Disney right in the same area, making all three places easily accessible to all.
In 2018, this was the second most visited amusement park in the world with approximately 18.6 million visits.
8. Universal Studios, Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore is the most tailor-made for its place located at Resorts World Sentosa. The park is designed in around 49 acres. Popular rides of this theme park include Battlestar Galactica, The Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers the Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle which combines 3D HD media with aviation technology. The amusement park also has a fantastic Water World.
9. Sea World, Gold Coast, Australia
Sea World in Australia is one of the most successful operating theme parks that also includes an aquatic animal park and an Oceanarium. It offers a variety of rides, exhibitions, and other interesting activities like the Nickelodeon Land which has rides specially created for the children.
The Sea World park also hosts shows like a Jet Stunt Extreme show. Besides this, various marine attractions include the Dolphin Nursery Pool, Sea Harbour, Polar bear shores, and Penguin Point.
10. Legol and Theme Park, Malaysia
Legoland is Malaysia’s first international theme park that opened in 2012. It is the first Legoland Theme park in Asia and the sixth in the world. It offers an amazing day out for families offering around 70 rides and water slides. It includes many roller coaster rides and workshops for young creative minds to build lego robots.
There is a Mini-land, comprising Asian landmarks, recreated using over 30 million Lego blocks. This park is connected to a resort of a similar theme that has dining, swimming pools, and playgrounds.
