It is often said that a home is not just about its structure but also about the little details that make it unique. Vaibhavi Patil and Ganesh Gayakwad, a young couple, recently moved into a newly built 800 sq ft 2 BHK apartment in Pune. Their dream was to create a space that mirrored their professional work and personal life.

“We wanted a boho-contemporary theme that feels peaceful, calm, and inspired by nature, using a simple color scheme,” they say. Both working in IT and also involved in content creation, they wanted every part of their apartment to look like a perfect scene while still feeling like a real, cozy home—one that could switch seamlessly between work and relaxation.

This kind of challenge excited the principal designers at THINK With Us—Harshal Mutha, Shubham Gandhi, Dhwani Mehta Gandhi, and Aadesh Gandhi. Based in Pune, the studio saw the apartment as a blank canvas for thoughtful details, small but meaningful changes, and those little touches that quietly bring everything together. The clients were just as excited. “The original layout provided clear zones and lots of natural light, but also had its challenges: fixed services, limited space, and a tight budget,” shares Harshal.

“The homeowners are creative, expressive, and detail-focused, yet they value comfort and routine. Their home needed to reflect all of that,” says the team. As soon as you walk in, you sense the spirit of the house. A safety door with teakwood spheres sets the tone, while a custom shoe rack featuring bird designs hints at the story that unfolds throughout the space. The living area is a warm and flexible space, centered around a custom sofa and a table with delicate bird engravings. Here, creativity is woven into every piece of furniture and finish, rather than just through standalone artwork.

A small mandir with lotus designs is cleverly integrated into the TV panel, offering a gentle break without interrupting the flow. As daylight moves through the room, it brings life to the textures and materials, changing the mood with every hour. “The home feels most alive in the late afternoon, with soft daylight highlighting its textures,” says Aadesh. The dining area, aligned with the living room, has a lively cityscape wallpaper as a backdrop. The dining table adds an unexpected twist with a reversible top that reveals artwork on either side. The PU-finished kitchen is both cost-effective and easy to maintain, and is considered the home’s most indulgent feature. Its clean surfaces and restrained color palette help it blend smoothly with the rest of the design. A hidden door leads to the guest bedroom, which also serves as a workspace, featuring custom library wallpaper—one of the couple’s favorites—and gold foil accents on the wardrobe.

This room easily transforms for work, content shoots, or hosting, making it a versatile space. In the master bedroom, bird motifs make a return on the bed back and wardrobe, weaving together the home’s narrative without feeling repetitive. As the most private area, it feels intimate and grounded, stepping away from the more lively parts of the house.

“The beauty of this home lies in its detailing; veneer-based motifs, custom wooden engravings, and custom-designed wallpapers add subtle artistic layers, enhancing simple surfaces without overwhelming the space,” says Dhwani. The overall color palette is warm and neutral, struck in a delicate balance that allows the home to adapt both visually and functionally, making it feel lighter.

One unique aspect that doesn’t define this home is how it is crafted and connected through a series of thoughtful details throughout. “The process felt like an artist carefully creating a canvas, where every thoughtfully considered detail contributed to a challenging yet creatively satisfying larger picture,” notes Shubham. Together, they have created a space that captures every moment, every season of the couple’s life, while still feeling complete and whole.
