The three clients are a humble family: a husband, wife and their daughter. Among the common ‘asks’ were persistent reminders to maximize storage within the functional spatial planning.

The design elements should be suitable for a low maintenance habitable Indian context. What seemed like a simple endeavor turned into a challenge in striking a balance that implemented all three different design tastes of the trio. This design combines these differences to bring everything together as a home for a family with special elements that everyone is able to enjoy and experience individually and together.

The mood board is a confluence of earthy undertones, subtle and clean, with no space for clutter. This allowed one pop element to be highlighted in each room, which create for subtle tints of visual balance.

Despite the limitations caused by smaller ground cover, maximum storage integration was the biggest challenge. The design integrates this requirement in multiple functions, like seaters with built-in storage and a foyer paneled off in hidden storage compartments. This foyer in beautifully created minimal metallic rose gold palette catered to the specific requirements for metal elements, while making an impact as the first space of the home. A touch of a black flows through the house within some elements, acting as a uniting visual thread.

The visual connection from foyer to living space was emphasized by breaking down the connecting wall, giving a wider visual entry. The pivot point that pulls the home together, i.e., the living space was kept simple with minimal intervention. Organic patterns of the rug were selected to add a theatrical feel. The connected dining space has a white marble and teak table that contributed to this persistent simplicity.

There is a zen feel in the daughter’s bedroom. The flowing panel, structured with a minimal separate headboard, makes the room spacious. This allows the circular mirror to act as an ornamental piece of beauty.

The master bedroom has a cozy integrated seat and an arched portal that frames it, with a window view. The requirements for a workbench were made by integrating the desk with a huge wood turning point of ripe teak against the rich black swatches flowing through the room.

The pure white guest bedroom is in synchronization with blue-green kota flooring. A unique rib granite gives a premium feeling when shining against light. The ochre headboard and fluidic form of the mirror gives a playful feel and will keep guests comfortable.
