The client brief emphasized a desire for a clutter-free home with minimal furniture, favouring open and expansive spaces. They aimed for a contemporary and minimalist aesthetic that evokes a calming and zen atmosphere, allowing the beauty of the surroundings to shine through while maintaining functionality and privacy for family members.

The design plan was to have an open and functional layout, ensuring that all family members had their private spaces while promoting a sense of togetherness. The senior parents were strategically placed in a room closer to the entrance, accompanied by a segregated area to minimize disturbances from younger kids. A connected room to the living room and son’s space created a versatile den for relaxation and entertainment. The daughter’s room exuded a fun vibe, while the master bedroom was styled for elegance.

In terms of space planning, every room was thoughtfully sized and positioned to prioritize comfort and privacy. The living room remained uncluttered, allowing for ample open space. The design narrative was deeply inspired by the seaside location, which influenced the choice of textures, colors, and tones throughout the interiors. A contrast between light-colored walls and darker flooring was executed to create visual interest. The incorporation of modern elements fused with warmth fostered a sense of belonging, making the home feel both contemporary and familiar, suitable for entertaining and comfortable living.

The entrance foyer, though small, captivates with its modern artistry, featuring a dynamic interplay of two marbles that form a striking pattern, complemented by a beautifully crafted mirror with fluid layers. A uniquely designed, many-legged console enhances the foyer’s elegant flow. To the left, the grandparents’ room is thoughtfully secluded, providing them with privacy and easy accessibility. This foyer also leads to a separate staff area, ensuring that the living room remains undisturbed during entertaining occasions.

Beyond the foyer, the living and dining spaces are connected to provide ample seating, incorporating two distinct seating areas for comfort. The living room features a long passage adorned with veneered ceilings and walls, seamlessly linking it to the rest of the home. A show-stopping marble scooped wall draws the eye, accented by exquisite textured artworks and framed by a black slate ceiling along the windows. Adjacent to the living area is a den, which doubles as a cozy TV room.

The master bedroom exudes elegance, with veneer walls layered beneath a marble panel and a long, cushioned headboard, bringing warmth and charm to the space, enhanced by colourful accents. The son’s room showcases a rugged concrete texture throughout the walls and ceilings, equipped with a pull-out bed to maximize space. In contrast, the daughter’s room bursts with personality, featuring a lively monochrome wallpaper panel and a fluid sage bed, accented with jellyfish-inspired lights that evoke a sense of the sea.

The material palette in the space was intriguing, as the dark floor influenced the walls to adopt lighter tones, such as the veneer and the white matte scooped marble highlight wall. In the son’s room, concrete textures combined with printed wallpaper and stucco walls added character to the area.
