Dwelling within one of the most sought-after residential complexes of Kolkata, the home poses as a sanctuary of comfort and warmth, with verdant stretches of green as its eternal view and companion!

A thread of contemporary design weaves its way through the spaces, binding them
harmoniously to exude a cohesive experience. Clean lines, a neutral palette of hues, bold
accents of colour, and a penchant for details become the home’s signatures, ensuring that
areas hold firmly on their own while tying in with the overruling aesthetic.
“All intent while moulding a home is focused on the ones who dwell within. The family’s
cultural influences, personal preferences, and aspirations become our north star, guiding us
in the direction of the narrative. At The Opulent Oasis, the range of colours, textures, and
materials became parts of a larger mosaic, coming together to create a familial haven,”
recalls Bhuwalka.
The journey into the home is marked by an encounter with the petite foyer, laced with
details. One’s gaze is instinctively drawn towards the main door crafted in natural selenite
crystal, its smooth expanse displaying a pearly lustre. Adorned with a hemispherical
handle, the main door is the undisputed crown jewel of this space. Decked in a taupe-hued
leather panelling, the foyer’s walls also flaunt a piece of oversized, abstract art tinted in a
medley of blues.
Washed in a copious amount of diffused northeastern light, the living room easefully
emulates a modern yet layered design vocabulary. Walking into the space reveals a visual
headlined by warm veneers, slivers of colour, and materiality that assumes an elevated
role. “One of our most-loved features includes the embedded carpet we have created with
semi-precious Lapis lazuli stone and brass, celebrating the stone’s intense hue. This
transforms the generic marble flooring into a design feature that compellingly commands
attention,” illustrates Aanchhal.
At its centre, the living room is anchored by a powder blue-hued Chesterfield sofa that
nods to the pulse of timeless design that flows through the home. A low, slatted coffee
table completes the conversation space, designed as a collage of various stones and wood
varieties that sits upon a tufted Jaipur Rugs carpet. The focal wall hosts a minimalist open
shelving system peppered with artefacts while reminiscing the influences of Mid-Century
Modern design with the intersection of curved and linear forms.
Another highlight includes the bespoke, sculpture-esque lighting installation that graces
the living space ceiling as a narrow band. The array of 54 pieces resembles inverted
mushrooms, drawing their tint from the predominant hues of the space. An interlaced
leather divider is sited between the living and the foyer, creating a veil of privacy while
iterating the interplay between the greys and blues.
Sharing its threshold with the living area, the deck is an alfresco escape that lends its
blueprint generously, especially when entertaining. “Thriving with greens and a
monochrome palette, the space harbours a comfy swing and bench to seat the family. The
gurgling Buddha water feature transforms the atmosphere, lending it zen through dawn and dusk,” she highlights.
The open blueprint indoors flows into the dining area from the living space, creating a
node to gather and savour time together! The backdrop to this area is composed of a
textured medley of dusky rose and brown wallpaper, depicting a montage of subtle florals.
Sleek wooden members traverse the wall’s length, creating niches to display crockery.
The glossy, green marble tabletop rests over the sculpted brass base, paired with tan
chairs. Curvaceous geometry claims the spotlight in the form of the statement pendant
fixture over this nook, drawing inspiration from the expansive brass and deep-stained
wood credenza.
The walk-in space is earmarked by a tan-hued chest of drawers, nodding to the colour’s
presence in the bedroom. The son’s bathroom also displays a concoction of dark
monochromes and curvilinear geometry, tying in with the bedroom’s persona.
Revealing its appetite for modern earthiness, the guest bedroom is immersed in stillness
with nature-inspired motifs at its helm. The high-back bed is positioned against the
customised wallpaper by Glamora, dreaming up vivid imagery with botanical and avian
influences. Pendants in brass grace this corner, amping up the finesse of the resting area.
A comfortable armchair sits facing the bed, creating a quiet reading corner for the family’s
guests.
With its steadfast focus on creating unique and engaging spaces, The Opulent Oasis takes
a promising leap toward intentional design while undeniably crafting familial comfort. “In
hindsight, the design process has culminated in a vision intimately entwined with the
aspirations we had from the get-go! Intricacies and details are the frontrunners of our journey with The Opulent Oasis, and we’d like to believe that our clients have found a place they will breathe new life into,” avers Bhuwalka.
