The project began during a family gathering, where the client, Dr. Gadgil, approached us with a request to design their new home. Given that Dr. Gadgil’s wife is a cousin of our founder, the project was particularly close to our hearts. The initial discussions were held during the first lockdown in April 2020, setting the stage for a unique design journey that had to adapt to the challenges of the pandemic.
Design Philosophy:
The design philosophy was rooted in creating a home that was both inviting and functional, with special attention paid to the natural light and the unique orientation of the apartment. The north-facing living room with ample natural light was a key consideration, driving the choice of materials and color palettes throughout the home.
Challenges and Execution:
Working on this project during the lockdown presented unique challenges, from coordinating remote discussions to ensuring safety protocols during execution. However, Green Hat Studio’s disciplined and methodical approach allowed the project to progress smoothly.
