Founders Avani and Akshay Khurana embarked on an experimental journey to weave this essence into their evolving lifestyle design narrative. Previously, they explored African design aesthetics for their Kuruka collection, inspired by their travels to Masai Mara. As Avani shares, “We aim to experiment with design concepts drawn from a global cultural mosaic, paying attention to the details that shape our world.”
The philosophy of highlighting the beauty within simplicity also guided the creative direction for the photoshoot of the Mexicola collection. Featuring actor Adil Hussain, the shoot took place outdoors, capturing the cultural richness of the collection against a raw, natural backdrop. The visuals reflect a cosmopolitan charm blended with the effortless elegance of tropical luxury. The shoot highlights Beyond Dreams’ keen attention to detail, a hallmark of its creative process.
Avani explains, “In designing each collection, we dive deeper into the cultures that inspire us. Cuban culture, with its values reflected in food, design, and daily life, resonated deeply with us. This led to the creation of a collection that merges elements of Cuban culture with new inspirations found here in India.”
Key pieces from the Mexicola collection include the Bayano Bar unit and the Mayari bed, both designed with graceful arched shapes inspired by Cuban Art Deco architecture. These pieces are distinctive and bring a sense of Cuban elegance to any space. The collection also features sustainable furniture inspired by Latin American serape prints and Talavera tile patterns, evoking a lively, summery feel. These versatile prints can be used for wall coverings, cushions, upholstery, and curtains, adding a touch of Cuban charm to various interior décor elements.
