The landscaping at CP Headquarters acts as a flexible and dynamic extension of the office space, located in Dong Nai, an industrial region experiencing rapid growth. The project addresses key challenges related to environmental sustainability and quality of life, aiming to counteract the impact of the surrounding area and create spacious, high-quality outdoor environments. These spaces encourage employees to relax, socialize, engage with nature, and enhance their daily work experience.

A central focus of the design is preserving mature trees and other existing features, such as a koi pond, which holds cultural significance as a symbol of good fortune and resilience in Asia. This pond serves as a gathering spot for annual community events where employees and visitors feed the koi, fostering a sense of community and tranquility within the workplace.

The landscape design also enhances the ecosystem through the use of native and adaptive plants, which increase resilience, reduce maintenance, and attract wildlife like birds. This improves outdoor areas by providing optimal thermal comfort and enjoyment, essential in a region with high temperatures and humidity that often limit outdoor usability.

The project provides visual continuity of the landscape from most indoor spaces, offering amenities suited to different times of day. These include a shaded park area for midday respite and a rooftop space where colleagues can unwind at sunset. The design aims to blend the building’s urban structure with the natural surroundings, forming a seamless landscape transition from the nature park on the east to the west side of the site.
Three distinct zones shape the outdoor spaces: a nature park, a retreat space for breaks, and a public green spine that extends from the ground floor to the rooftop. These areas are designed for informal gatherings, meals, games, meetings, BBQs, intimate seating, and even an outdoor cinema. The nature park offers a looped path for walking, relaxation, and exercise, with hammocks—reflective of regional culture—strategically placed along the route.

The transition retreat space features a grandstand for informal gatherings and a koi pond that enhances the space’s tranquility. Shaded areas under the canopy offer cool, relaxing spots for socializing. The diagonal green spine connects the arrival plaza on the ground floor with the rooftop, which includes movable benches and planters for flexibility, accommodating both casual gatherings and formal events. The rooftop area provides event spaces, community gardens, and a sunset deck for after-work relaxation.

In sum, the CP Vietnam Head Office landscape project exemplifies innovative and thoughtful design, addressing site-specific challenges and promoting wellness and community engagement, setting new standards for sustainable, functional office landscapes.
