6. Cook Children’s Medical Center, North Tower, Dallas, Texas
This project stands as one of the most colorful and playful children’s hospitals that was envisioned by FKP Architects along with David M. Schwarz Architects. Covering an area of 314,000 square feet, this project caters to the need of children who were exposed to abuse, trauma, and shock. Hence, attention is given to soothing and calm ambiences. The project was entirely funded by the locals.
7. CJ Blossom Park, South Korea
A seamless design that incorporates multiple activities under a single roof, following the concept of ‘Only One. The design spanning across 111,483 sq.m has over 50 types of spaces, catering to different needs and well being of the scientists and researchers. Space has been designed to stimulate the scientist’s inner mind and creative exposure.
8. UC San Diego Health, Jacobs Medical Center, La Jolla, CA
The result of over 513 collaborative meetings with clinicians and over 80 hospital departments; this project dubbed as the ‘Garden Hospital’ caters to the need of women and infants, cancer patients and specialty surgeries. With its curvilinear form, maximized daylight, minimize solar gain and elevated gardens, this hospital remains one of their best projects.
9. Centre Hospitalier De L’Université De Montréal, Montreal, QC, Canada
A project which has parts of modern healthcare, cultural and historical landmarks, urban architecture and public art; this project is the largest new hospital in North America and stands as a perfect example of a unique academic medical center. This project has transformed itself into a cultural landmark and has been etched onto Montreal’s history. The most interesting feature of this project is the six rooftop gardens that are shaped like medicinal herbs which are accessible to the public.
10. The University of Kansas Hospital, Cambridge Tower A, Kansas City, KS
This expansion project spanning over three city blocks is the ambitious project of The University of Kansas Hospital. The 11-storey, 220-beds tower, Cambridge Tower A established a link among the existing facilities and followed universal gridline enabling adaptability for future service lines. This tower also features an outdoor plaza, cafeteria, and public entry.
