The slender, tapered form of this Class A office tower transforms the South of Market (SoMa) district of San Francisco.The San Francisco Chronicle called 535 Mission, “an urbane addition to the vertical scene, a good neighbor on the ground—and a reminder that, architecturally, a little restraint can go a long way.”As the city’s first LEED Platinum Core and Shell certified office tower, the building’s advanced mechanical systems, high-performance skin and water-use efficiencies promote sustainability. Indoor controls optimize the energy and light transmission efficiency of the high-performance glass facade.

This Bay Area office is a place where OpenText’s people can collaborate to shape the digital future of business information. The office is located within the HOK-designed Bay Meadows Village, a transit-oriented mixed-use development. The firm collaborated with the software company’s leaders to incorporate employee input and OpenText’s values of creativity, performance, and hospitality into space. The design promotes employee well-being and facilitates interaction.

EY wanted a flexible facility where it could host a wide variety of events, dinners, and educational forums while showcasing the innovation and expertise it brings to clients.After analyzing data from previous EY events, similar spaces in Toronto and upcoming client campaigns, the design team created a plan with dynamic spaces that can easily adapt to many different uses. As the elevator doors open onto the 40th floor of a downtown high-rise, guests and employees are met with a welcoming, hotel-like reception area.

This new coworking space in downtown Los Angeles establishes a West Coast presence for Convene, which partners with developers and landlords to provide full-service, highly amenitized meetings and workplace solutions in large U.S. cities. HOK Architects design converted the three bottom floors of a 1980s office building into a hospitality-infused meeting, event and workspace. The neighborhoods of downtown Los Angeles inspired the contemporary, industrial-chic environment. A clean, crisp palette ties the space together.

Sun Life Financial’s new headquarters reinforces the company’s startup-inspired culture with spaces designed to spur ideation, creativity, and teamwork. Occupying 14 floors of the One York Street Tower in Toronto’s financial district, the headquarters brings together more than 2,000 employees from two locations and offers them choices about how and where they work.
