Bedano is a small village in the district of Lugani in Switzerland. The total area of this village is 1.91 sq km. IT is a municipality district. Their Native language is Italian and their culture also has an Italian influence. The Huge historic impact could be seen in the way their houses are built. This is a planned town that connects Rivera and Lugano via the highway. In Bedano there is also the headquarters of the Stella Maris elderly home, built by the consortium of 7 municipalities of Vedeggio. This is a Beautiful village town for a simple life along with great mountain views of Switzerland.

1. CITY COUNCIL OF BEDANO

The establishment of the city council took place in the session of 17 March 1952 under the presidency of Stefano Torriani, conservator. The half-century anniversary of this public institution was commemorated in a ceremony held at the end of 2002. The uniqueness of this building lies in the bright colors used around a single window. The old hut-like building with pitch roof profile along with the ethnic context of bedano, makes this place a must-visit.

2. NEW MUNICIPAL HOUSE 

The work, of a rational and functional nature, built-in concrete according to a rational and functional line and an appropriate choice of materials and furnishings, it was designed by the architects Egidio Vezzoli and Tiziano Vanoni. The realization was curated by the architect Mariella Vanacore, Municipal Technician of Bedano. The huge garden and green space in front of the municipal house plays an important role in the event carried out in Bedano.

3. OSTERIA BEDANESE

This is a small gathering space, situated in the center of the town. This is a restaurant as well as a public space. Bedano doesn’t have any grocery stores and instead of that, they have such small cafes.

It is owned by Graziella Testuri, it already existed at the beginning of the last century, then managed by Anna Testuri. Until 1978 it had to adjoin a grocery store. Nice meeting point to exchange a chat in joy or play a game of cards. It is open every day with delicious home-cooked food.

4. OSTERIA CARLETTI

In operation since 1885. It was opened by Constantine Carletti, an emigrant who returned from Buenos Aires. With the influence of Argentina and Italian architecture, this place has a different feel and a vibe. It is connected to nature and the building is made with natural elements. Along with its vineyard, this place welcomes up to 50 people. Mediterranean cuisine and season, grilled specialties, and products typical of Their land are served here.

5. OSTERIA DAMA

It was originally called Osteria Trefogli, later Osteria Menghetti. In operation for over a century. Until 1935 it had annexed the game of bowls. It has been called Osteria for fifteen years. Homemade cuisine, house specialties, pizza from the wood oven, outdoor terrace, and meeting room. Along with a great view and vernacular architecture feel, this place is a must-visit for architects.

6. CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA

Built-in the second half of the 14th century by the Fontanella brothers from Como. In the centuries following its construction, the church was enlarged and transformed: in 1932 the first restoration works were carried out; in 1937 the old floor was removed with the demolition of the Rusco tomb. In 1947 the roof was redone and the fresco on the facade of the oratory was restored. In 1980 the roof was redone again and in 1990 the last restoration was carried out.

7. SAN ROCCO ORATORY

The building was constructed by the end of the 16Th century to protect the place. Till the end of the seventeenth century, the oratory was restored along with faiths. This building carries huge religious importance for the history of Bedano.

8. PARISH CHURCH GRAVESANO-BEDANO-MANNO

The structure was completely demolished in the Romanesque age when the new church was built, attested in 1192, a period which could also date the raised bell tower in the Baroque period. This building has pink faces and stone walls. Stone walls are required to keep the building warm and cozy.

9. KINDERGARTEN IN BEDANO,1972

This is one of the iconic buildings by architect Aurelio Galfetti. This kindergarten was constructed in 1972 and this is what makes this building special, even though it is built so early, it has the modern Impact that Bedano required. It is constructed on natural contours and the levels are embraced. This building has an exposed glass façade which connects the inner spaces with the outdoors.

10. CHAPEL IN VIA BELLAVISTA

This chapel carries hugely symbolic and historic value. This image was associated in ancient times with the cult of the Mother-Earth, whose rites were intended to promote the abundance of crops. The two stars in the upper part, that is the sun and the moon, inserted in the blue of the sky, establish the correspondences with the cycle of human life and define the influence on man, also establishing the calendar of the seasons. The presence of human figures is linked to the inhabitants who, with their presence, have given the town its current development and growth.
