Only If Architecture, founded in 2013 by Karolina Czeczek and Adam Frampton, focuses on designs for architecture and urbanism. The firm translates urban techniques to architectural scales, engaging with construction processes, local policies, and community organizations. Only If Architecture believes in the role of the designer to envision simple forms to impose, identity, coherence, and structure.
12. NADAAA
NADAAA is an architecture and urban design firm based in Boston. The firm is led by principal designer Nader Tehrani, with partners Katherine Faulkner and Daniel Gallagher. NADAAA is a multi-award-winning discipline. Projects range from furniture and architecture to urban design; they focus on craft and construction, with digital fabrication.
13. PRO (Peterson Rich Office)
PRO is an interdisciplinary design firm founded by Miriam Peterson and Nathan Rich in 2011. The firm specializes in cultural, residential, and urban design projects. PRO has been recognized at many levels, with awards and featured in magazines and journals.
14. AGENCY
AGENCY, with founders Ersela Kripa and Stephen Mueller, is a practice based in Texas. The firm practices architecture and urbanism in relation to contemporary culture. It was founded in 2010. Their work includes research and design on broad-engaging issues. AGENCY is a thought leader in social practice.
15. MODU
MODU is a firm led by Rome Prize Fellows Phu Hoang and Rachey Rotem. The design studio based in Boston, majors in architecture, urban design and interiors. MODU is a New York State MWBE as well as LEED accredited firm. MODU directs a think tank linking a diverse group of experts in culture as well as industry.
16. Fernanda Canales
Fernanda Canales founded her firm in Mexico City. She believes “architecture is about creating connections between people, territories, and history.” She won the Emerging Voices Award from the Architectural League of New York in 2018.
17. Comunal: Taller de Arquitectura
Comunal: Taller de Arquitectura is a firm founded in 2015, in Mexico City. Jesica Amescua and Mariana Ordóñez Grajales run the firm developing inclusive, participatory, and contextual projects. Their work revolves around five methodological axes. They focus on the social and collective process. They focus on architecture that is functional, aesthetic, and formal; with importance given to the place, culture, and people.
18. STPMJ
STPMJ is a design firm based in New York and Seoul. The award-winning firm was founded by Seung Teak Lee and Mi Jung Lim with the agenda of ‘provocative realism’. The firm aims to design identity, brand, and value, with a unique vision of architecture. They aim to design creative and innovative culture, as a result of a new perspective in the firm.
19. Davidson Rafailidis
Davidson Rafailidis is a firm led by Stephanie Davidson and Georg Rafailidis based in New York. Established in 2008, both are members of architecture faculty at the University of Buffalo. Davidson Rafailidis has an adaptive approach, not devoid of fun. They have also focused their thoughts on the adaptability and life of buildings. Davidson Rafailidis won a 2018 award.
20. Luis Aldrete Estudio de Arquitectura
Luis Aldrete established the firm in 2007 based in Mexico. He designs in residential, cultural and hospitality. He works with the local craftsman to employ construction techniques developed over generations. Luis Aldrete has taught in Mexico, Spain, and the United States.
