The Dubai EDITION is the extraordinary new flagship hotel in the Middle East. The iconic hotel boasts minimalist luxury in a sought-after location. LW Design has arguably created the best-looking EDITION hotel in the world with a sense of elevated style and design language. LW Design undertook both the architecture and interiors for this impressive hospitality project. The EDITION reflects the best of cultural and social environments and a new generation of understated luxury. Its extraordinary location on Downtown Boulevard affords the hotel an enviable view of the Burj Khalifa and the Old Town. Madison Cox from the USA created the concept for the dreamy outdoor spaces, gardens and terraces.

EDITION hotels are known for their buzzing lobbies that engage with evolved travellers seeking the next new experience. The vast triple-height lobby showcases a dynamic journey whilst the breathtaking chandelier upon arrival immediately grounds the high ceilings creating an intimate yet elevated lounge experience. The central spiral staircase connects the lobby to dining rooms and other public spaces; it’s a unique design statement and an impressive structural achievement. LW’s brief ensured that the spaces were not overly designed but felt effortless and comfortable. The furnishings are timeless, classic and flatter the understated luxury synonymous with the brand.

Duomo is a theatrical Italian restaurant in the hotel lobby and seamlessly continues with the same design yet with pops of colour to accentuate the change. Clever seating affords diners uninhibited views of the dramatic arches and artwork and breathtaking views of the Burj Khalifa. The signature restaurant Jolie is filled with natural, earthy colours, bronze finishes, tan hide chairs, and raised olive and gold bar chairs lining the ‘U’ shaped bar. Landen Nordmann’s artwork adorns the walls on the terrace and depicts fanciful urban living. The restaurant feels like an orangery with parlour palms and other tropical plants. The bold Terrazzo flooring is the statement design element throughout the restaurant. The expansive semi-enclosed balcony-inspired terrace is covered and overlooks the old town.

Leon is an authentic, speakeasy-inspired bar just off the main lobby. It’s exciting and provocative with punchy accents against a dark background. Clever lighting enhances the vibrant colour blocking throughout. It’s unexpected and exudes energy, whereas the rest of the hotel is an oasis of calm. EDITION hotels love to surprise their guests with the unexpected.

The EDITION has 275 rooms, including the impressive penthouse suite. The rooms are designed with a minimal palette, promoting simplicity and comfortable luxury. The simplicity of the design brings the guests’ attention to the small details, such as the matching veins in the natural stone and grain in the wood. Floor-to-ceiling windows give ample light and spectacular views over the iconic Burj Khalifa and lead onto large glass balconies. Each bed has a soft leather headboard, an impressive upgrade to the predictable timber headboards and wallpaper backdrops of previous EDITION hotels. The contemporary monochromatic colour scheme makes each room feel fresh and light. The combination of leather, wood and stone is an exceptional upgrade.
