This kindergarten is located in the developing metropolis of Istanbul, the cities like these lack spaces suitable for kids to grow and learn at the same time. The school aims to provide such a space for kids where they can express their thoughts freely. The form of the school is derived from the shape of a primitive hut that any child draws in the beginning; the form tries to emphasize a sense of shelter.

This school design is conceptualized keeping in mind the school as the place where a child’s journey begins where they start creating memories. The form of arches takes shape from the first scribbles of children, which represent freedom of thought. The school was built in modules of a classroom, and a corridor repeated organically around the site. This modularity helped reduce construction costs by reducing and reusing the shuttering materials repetitively.
23. East Sydney early learning centre

This school is an example of adaptive reuse architecture and also makes it an urban intervention as it sits in the compact urban fabric of Darlinghurst. The design proposal was made such that the community centre sits on the ground floor, and the upper 3 floors are occupied by the learning centre, which is designed to represent a mini-city. The scale of the mini-city is relatable to the children and generates many pods that house various activities of the children.

The school was built to respond to the growth of once a rural area to an urban city now. Hence, the extensive use of bricks can be noticed, representing the history and establishing a deep connection rooted in their culture. The building sits as a U shape enclosing a patio enveloped by the brick screens, still providing a connection to the outside world.

This school of architecture and sustainability was completed in the year 2013. The building is an elongated structure of two to three stories enveloped by an airy loft structure that forms the roof. The design has many spaces scooped out, which allow informal discussions and crits to take place. The key elements of the design are its roof, and the use of sunshades can also be noticed.
