Here’s a glimpse of the best 15 iconic projects by MRAID.
1. Bayou Oaks Residence
Inspired by the “Center Hall’, this mid-19th-century plantation home features walnut floors throughout, custom millwork and casing, and antique lighting fixtures. The wrap around porch around the house offers wonderful views of the oak trees and Bayou Portage.
2. Acs Hope Lodge
It is a 34 room lodging facility that provides free temporary accommodations to cancer treatment patients. The color palette of tranquil blues and watery greens create a comfortable ambiance for patients to retreat during treatments.
3. The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa
The property’s art collection and the existing architectural beauty inspired the high-end luxurious ambiance. While renovating, the functionality of the project was increased by creating intimate seating arrangements grouped around the structures’ floor to ceiling windows. The windows were kept bare to emphasize the view of the Harbour and the natural light filtering throughout the lobby.
4. Sheraton Hotel, New Orleans
Focusing on the original historic interior of the hotel and the French Quarter of New Orleans itself, guest rooms/suites and bathrooms, corridors, meeting rooms and pre-function areas, elevator lobbies, lobby and reception areas, public restrooms, club lounge, and fitness room have been renovated. Customized millwork, lighting design, and customized carpet design were part of the renovations.
5. Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Houston Hobby Airport
All the new additions and the renovated areas including guest rooms and public areas like the lobby, ballrooms, meeting rooms, board rooms, bar lounge, and a 200 seat café/restaurant were done in an Avian theme, owing to the hotel’s proximity to the airport. The lobby has been revamped to include a fireplace, aquarium, and registration desk area of luxurious style.
6. Wyndham La Belle Maison Vacation Ownership
While maintaining the formal language of the neighborhood on the exterior of the building, the renovations and constructions on the interior emphasize the verticality which was present in the high-rise architecture of the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. The architectural and interior vocabulary of the spaces mimic the culture of the city.
Also, a central atrium, interior parking, and multiple floors were added to the existing structure.
7. Four Points By Sheraton French Quarter
MRAID successfully faced the task of revamping the public areas and guest rooms harmoniously with the modern organic aspects of the brand and the building’s historic character. This was achieved by choosing classic-inspired furniture pieces upholstered in vibrant fabrics, upgrading existing traditional lighting with new shades, and changing the background colors to a simpler, monochromatic scheme.
8. West University Residence
This family home was built from scratch in close collaboration with the clients. The result was a house with an open floor plan, having an easy flow of space, designed keeping in mind the client’s needs. The house boasts a modern look on the outside and a transitional style on the inside.
9. Royal Oaks Residence
With full creative freedom to create a unique setting, MRAID has created a complete custom design while renovating this three-storeyed house. The flamboyant colors and patterns used in the different rooms create a sumptuous, and whimsical atmosphere while retaining an understated elegance.
10. Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen
Located in Downtown Disney, this restaurant is designed in the Mardi Gras theme. Implicit attention has been given to the smallest of details to make it as authentic as if it were in the Big Easy itself. The design elements include a courtyard with fountain, gas lanterns, slate pavers, and greenery-filled iron railings.
11. Harrah’s Buffet
MRAID provided full architecture and interior design, FF&E selections and specifications to this Buffet located in the center of the busy Harrah’s Casino. MRAID renovated this 1980’s Buffet to create a sense of place by adding a bar incorporating custom lighting, stone countertops, dark stained wood trim, antiqued mirrors, and mosaic tiling. Tackling the challenge of working while the adjacent casino and other venues were in operation, MRAID successfully created a fresh and eclectic “New Orleans” themed ambiance.
12. Sugar Factory At Miracle Mile Shops
Entering the shop through the movie marquee entry, the lights from the flashing Hollywood bulbs gives one the illusion of walking down a red carpet. To further enhance this experience, the walls are adorned with shiny metallic frames showcasing celebrities enjoying the candies bought at the store. To keep the focus of the customers on the candy, the walls, floor, and shelving are whitewashed, making the vivid colors of the candy pop.
13. The Westin Resort & Spa, Cancun
MRAID renovated the restaurant, Sports Bar, Kids Club, Lobby, and Sale Gallery of the Westin Resort located along the beaches of Cancun, Mexico.
The Sea & Stones dining area was refurbished with new flooring, millwork, and furniture. Synonymous with the hotel brand concept, the Kids Club features a stage, a Lego wall, and wave-like acoustical ceiling panels. The Lobby and Gallery area were branded with a tropical look using a fresh color scheme of turquoise, coral, and green.
14. Hart Residence
This renovation project was for a young and hip family of three. Keeping their requirements in mind, the spaces were made flexible with a versatile character that could multitask as a relaxing abode and LSU football-watching party destination. To keep the focus on the client’s varied range of art collections, the background was kept simple with clean lines.
15. Lugrin Residence
The interior of this house showcases a blend of sophisticated elegance and funky eclecticism. The renovation maintains a balance between both. A good example of it is the grand stainless steel fireplace juxtaposed against warm and relaxed slate flooring.
