In one of their most remarkable projects to date, Studio Aakruti has created a one-of-a-kind Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of Ahmedabad — a space that transports diners to the warm, sun-drenched coasts of the Mediterranean, while remaining rooted in the urban vibrancy of India’s bustling cityscape.

Design Concept

The design for this Mediterranean-inspired restaurant is a true testament to Studio Aakruti’s expertise in blending cultural elements with contemporary design. Situated in Ahmedabad’s concrete jungle, the space brings together the serene charm of the Middle East with the energetic pulse of the city, offering an oasis of relaxation and escape. With Ar. Harsh Dixit and Ar. Neel Patel at the helm, the restaurant’s design is imbued with elements reminiscent of Mediterranean landscapes — from the vibrant colors to the textures and materials that evoke the region’s natural beauty.

The restaurant’s interior seamlessly combines luxurious textures like stone, wood, and ceramics with a soft color palette of whites, earth tones, and deep blues, capturing the essence of the Mediterranean coast. The design emphasizes openness and light, with expansive windows allowing for natural light to fill the space, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that mirrors the Mediterranean’s easy-going charm.

Architectural Elements

To achieve a Mediterranean aesthetic while respecting the local context of Ahmedabad, the design integrates architectural elements that evoke Middle Eastern influences. Intricate archways, open courtyards, and tiled flooring reminiscent of ancient Mediterranean streets come together to create an intimate yet expansive dining experience. The use of terracotta, natural stone, and minimalist furnishings highlights the beauty of simplicity, making every corner of the restaurant a visual treat.

Handcrafted details like custom woodwork, hanging lanterns, and textured walls add a touch of authenticity, transporting diners to the cultural heart of the Mediterranean. The open-plan design encourages a sense of community, with shared seating arrangements and spaces that flow into one another, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy their meals in a relaxed setting.

A Culinary Journey Through Design

The restaurant’s layout is designed with careful attention to how people move through the space, ensuring a seamless flow from the entrance to the dining area, bar. The spatial arrangement reflects the essence of Mediterranean hospitality — warm, welcoming, and focused on bringing people together over great food.

Every element, from the furniture to the lighting, has been thoughtfully curated to transport diners to another world.
