The aesthetics of the office is a combination of an interpretation of the urban bye-laws, the immediate aeronautical context, and from the environmental requirements of the area. Inspired by the natural constructional logic of a tree, the robust structure has a similar facade design. The load bearing facade has a broad and strong at the bottom and tapers as it moves up as twigs, just like a tree. The tower owes its stability to the diagonal fluttering branches. This unconventional facade makes the building experience abstract from various viewpoints.

18. Muqarnas Tower
Location- Riyadh, Saudi Arab
Project Year- 2013
Architect- Skidmore Owings & Merrill
The Tower is designed around the idea of maximizing solar performance. The linear plan of the building was oriented in the east-west axis so as to minimize the problems with the low angle sun. The composition of the metal panel creates a shimmering mosaic that changes appearance as the sun moves across the sky. Horizontal fins of varying depths on the north façade are calibrated based on the intensity of sunlight falling on its surface. As a result, the faces which require more shading have greater fin depths, reducing glare and cooling loads.
