The house of habitat is a building divided into two volumes linked by an inhabited gap (entrance porch, outdoor terraces, hanging gardens). This architectural arrangement links the different floors while maintaining transparency with the rear of the plot.

The two volumes have been designed to ensure the reversibility of the program and the modularity of the spaces. The larger volume houses all the shared spaces (reception, meetings, cubicles, training room, etc.) and offices for the various structures.

The architectural approach highlights the region’s expertise by offering a contemporary and innovative interpretation of the techniques and products made in the Périgord. The project is a showcase for the region, designed using exemplary materials that are commonly used to build houses in the Dordogne.

The house of habitat  is a virtuous building with high environmental performance. It is part of an HQE approach without labelling, with the E3 C2 label targeted for this operation.

The project includes the installation of photovoltaic panels, solar protection, reinforced insulation on the facade and roof, and the use of local and bio-sourced materials such as wood, terracotta and straw.

The house of habitat is deliberately very compact, to optimize the building’s energy requirements.

The building processes are designed to limit the use of concrete, reduce waste and optimize construction time. The timber-framed facades are clad with flat tiles laid with a clew, sourced locally, and insulated with an innovative material based on chopped straw blown in, which is the subject of an experimental certificate.
