The solution was an open plan living space, oriented towards the back garden. Walls were removed to open up the spaces and a new steel structure was left exposed to define the activity zones. A focal fireplace creates a cosy “snug” at the centre.

The kitchen and dining areas are located to the rear, with bi-fold doors and a picture window carefully positioned to maximise light and frame views to the back garden. The kitchen appliances are hidden behind oak doors to adapt the kitchen as part of the living room area.

The open plan areas are minimal and calm, with enough space to accommodate large gatherings, while having more intimate spaces for cosy nights by the fire.
