Located in an area of the city of Palermo built around the 50s and 60s, the apartment is located on the first floor of a residential building that has previously undergone a modification and expansion of its original structure.

The project for the complete renovation of the apartment had to take into account the mixed structure in reinforced concrete and load-bearing masonry: through the study of the internal layout, we managed to reconcile the limits imposed by the load-bearing masonry with a modern vision and use of the interior spaces.
The request of the clients was immediately to be able to have a large living area, the most lived-in area of the house, where they could spend most of their time at home with their families. The living room was therefore conceived as a large space, made up of three rooms that form a single large room communicating with the kitchen, the latter separated by custom-designed double smoked glass doors.
The false ceiling, illuminated upwards by LED strips and downwards by recessed spotlights, helps to give an interpretation of the space as a single room.
The result is an apartment characterized by simple and modern lines, with neutral tones combined with the natural essences of wood, which integrates into a planimetric conformation coming from the “past”: from the classic layout of many rooms arranged in sequence along a corridor, we have given a new conformation by dividing the apartment into living and sleeping areas.
To make the project for the clients even more special, we designed and made to measure for them the wall equipped with the fireplace, the wardrobes in the corridor and entrance, the kitchen designed to make the most of every centimetre, the furniture in the master bathroom and the study and play room for the children.
