Situated at the heart of Ujjain, a burgeoning city with astonishing growth, Ujjain City has evolved from a well-heeled ancient capital to the overcrowded inner city it is now. Visitors today are immediately immersed in the comfortably knit alleys, plazas, and temples. Inspired by the vibrant milieu of the alleyways in Ujjain City, the project seeks to reflect on the cultural heritage of the mundane in a modern way.

Scenes of every day—people, objects, and their settings—are the primary source material for design. To celebrate life in the urban village, the existing structure was cut into massing strategy, allowing such “urban incisions” to foster a new public realm.

The subtle relationship could be read between the building, the terraces, and the city. The architectural frame is divided into X-axis and Y-axis from east to west and south to north, representing public and private rooms respectively. Besides the terms, on the X-axis, the limited landscape is segmented by almost total transparent public spaces including the city’ houses, unfiltered, and revealing their different nature the, in this way, city atmosphere both indoors and outdoors could be felt by living in an urban hotel and experiencing the city

On the other hand, 58 guest rooms are divided in equal pieces of walls paralleling on the X-axis, much more in connection with a human scale. They are all south-facing, with a decent façade, adequate inner space of 55 sq. meters to accommodate furniture, their planter balconies, and are divided by columns. Glazed windows are offering options of sitting or standing and leaning overlooking the busy streets of the city.

Looking from distance, the architectural presence of the hotel is strong yet the perception between the hotel and the city is sensed. Italian & Spanish glazed and rich textured marbles & tiles, wooden flooring, luxury wooden furniture, and germen bathroom fittings are selected for the overall interior spaces. Bringing the building a particular luxury effect. The building is constructed in such a way as to change the character of the space. By the main road, this urban hotel is constructed with luxurious & modern materials, in such a way as to seek dialogue and symbiosis of luxury with reality on a daily basis.
