LEVITAE House project has emerged from managing to represent “Levitation” or “Buoyancy” through massive volumes. The design shows how a large volume that emerges from the ground dilutes downwards, losing density and remaining only in bare columns that rest on the ground and also taking advantage of the natural topography.

Casa Levitae is located on the southern slope of the city of La Paz and faces north to take advantage of the morning and afternoon sun in the best way. The city of La Paz, most of the year, has an average temperature of 12 ºC, so orientation to the sun is very important.

The great view, from the house towards the city of La Paz, has also been a predominant element when designing and many of the environments have been designed in order to appreciate the landscape.

The project could correspond to a Neo Deconstructivist line due to its complex morphological qualities, its structural and construction system.

The program responds to the needs of users who are a couple without children and with feline pets, as well as their desires in terms of music studio environments, garden, barbecue, parking for two vehicles, green areas, both indoors and outdoors, and large possibility of spatiality with double and triple heights; all within a small plot of 340 m2.

The structural system has been an important challenge, because the majority of La Paz engineers have never faced the calculation with inclined columns and large cantilevers; as well as its construction with standard labor.

The presence of the designer, in the construction process of the work, has been demanding due to the complexity of each type of material used.
