Located on the coast of San Antonio, the new property is conceived around the idea of bringing the magical atmosphere of sunset indoors and transforming it into a unique sensory experience. The result is a 900 sqm hotel comprising 48 apartments, where design aims to become a lasting memory.

“We were very clear that we wanted to move away from the turquoise, stone and wood aesthetic that has become so prevalent in hospitality renovations along the Mediterranean coast. We are a studio that loves colour and fun, and we enjoy being playful and slightly cheeky when putting forward our vision for a space. The most iconic feature of this coastline is the sunset. So why not play with that magic and translate it into a universe where colour and geometry become a kaleidoscope?” explains Esperanza G. Hidalgo, founder and interior designer at Almo Studio.
Rather than reproducing the usual parameters of Mediterranean design, the project creates an optimistic, fresh and subtly irreverent identity. Colour takes centre stage in a narrative designed to awaken emotions from the very first moment. Inspired by the nuances of the Ibizan landscape, the colour palette combines sage greens, corals, dusty pinks and luminous whites in a composition that engages in dialogue with the island’s natural surroundings. Graphic flooring, ceramic finishes, bespoke furniture and a large outdoor mural come together to create a distinctive visual language and give the property a recognisable personality.
One of the project’s most distinctive elements is precisely the flooring, conceived as the starting point for the entire aesthetic proposal. “Everything revolves around the design of the indoor and outdoor flooring. That was our starting point. It is a custom-made floor designed entirely by our studio specifically for this client. From a surrealist perspective, it represents the sun’s rays at sunset,” continues the interior designer.
From this gesture, a wider narrative emerges, incorporating other symbols connected to Ibiza’s landscape. The almond blossom, one of the island’s most recognisable natural icons, inspires both the large poolside mural and the ceramic finishes in the bathrooms. A dialogue is thus established between nature, art and architecture, as the studio explains: “We wanted to pay tribute to the almond blossom, so delicate and so representative of Ibiza. In the mural, we brought together the sun, the island of Sa Conillera, the flooring transformed into rays of light, and the almond blossom. The figure walking towards the horizon is also a tribute to one of the hotel’s partners, so that he could continue to contemplate every day the legacy he helped to build.”
Lighting, meanwhile, plays an equally essential role in the project’s narrative. A colour temperature of 2200K was chosen to evoke the warm quality of the sun at sunset. It creates a calm, warm atmosphere in which our circadian system feels relaxed and at ease. “We wanted the lighting to be romantic and evocative,” says G. Hidalgo, “also designed to recreate the warmth of the golden hour and envelop every space in softness, enhancing textures and colours while blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.”
For Almo Studio, light is also a design tool in its own right. “Lighting is fundamental. We believe it is still one of the most overlooked aspects of many architectural and interior design projects. Light is the intangible tool that brings our work to life and, in the same way, shadows are just as important. That is why we love working with them.”
Ultimately, every decision in the project is intended to create an atmosphere that conveys holiday spirit, lightness and wellbeing, balancing sophistication with a sense of informality and inviting guests to switch off and surrender to the slower rhythm of the Mediterranean.
The main challenge, however, was completing the entire intervention within just six months, from mid-October to April, without compromising on the level of detail or the bespoke nature of the project. According to the studio, this would not have been possible without the full trust and creative freedom given to them by the client. And when asked what sets this project apart from other similar properties in Ibiza, the interior designer is clear: “What makes it different is the courage and the desire to present a bold proposal, with a narrative that allows the imagination to take flight.”
