Set within India’s first operational greenfield smart city, the project responds to the client’s aspiration for an iconic Grade-A office development that would offer high-performing workspaces while becoming instantly recognisable in the emerging skyline. The result is a 120-metre-tall structure whose fluid form shifts subtly with every floor, creating the impression of a building caught in motion, gently rotating as it ascends.

The design is guided by the site’s semicircular geometry, which naturally suggested a building that could lean, twist, and look outward toward the expanding cityscape. Each floor plate rotates by one degree, creating a cumulative sweep of 38 degrees from base to crown. This slow, deliberate torsion mirrors the grace of the human torso, evoking balance, dynamism, and forward movement. As the tower rises, its orientation opens up uninterrupted views of the Sabarmati River and the fast-evolving urban district around it, giving occupants a perceptible sense of connection to the wider landscape.

This characteristic form is reinforced by a façade system that accentuates the rotation while performing as an energy-efficient envelope. The arrangement of fins and glazing helps draw natural light deep into the workspaces, reducing the need for artificial lighting and maintaining visual comfort throughout the day. Inside, the floor plates are planned with flexibility at their core, enabling a broad spectrum of tenants—from start-ups to major financial institutions—to shape their interiors to suit varied operational models.

The building extends its architectural language into the ground plane, where curved lines sweep into the arrival plaza and drop-off. A sculptural art piece anchors this space, echoing the building’s sense of movement and creating an engaging foreground for daily users and visitors. Higher up, a generous green terrace on the third floor becomes a social heart, overlooking a dramatic 107-metre atrium filled with daylight from the north-east and east faces. This space acts as a breathing room within the vertical stack of offices, encouraging interaction and offering visual relief. The rooftop terrace, with its restaurant and shared amenities, further enhances the experience by offering panoramic horizons across GIFT City.

Despite its striking geometry, the tower relies on an efficient and rational structural system. A robust service core works as the spine, stabilising the rotating mass and supporting an economical exoskeleton-like frame, proving that expressive architecture can coexist with cost-conscious engineering.

Sustainability is woven into the project from the outset, aligning with GIFT City’s broader environmental vision. Energy-efficient cooling, integrated solar power, rainwater harvesting, and daylight-optimised planning all contribute to reducing the operational footprint. The landscaped terrace improves thermal performance while doubling as a communal oasis for occupants. Together, these strategies affirm Shivalik Curv as a forward-looking addition to GIFT City—an emblem of design innovation, environmental responsibility, and the evolving ethos of contemporary workplace architecture.
