Chubbies is a fast-casual culinary project that stands out not only for the quality of its burgers, but also for its architectural design, which transforms every corner of the restaurant into a delicious and immersive experience. Located in Parque la Mexicana, in Santa Fe, Mexico City, this restaurant becomes a space where gastronomy and architecture merge harmoniously, creating a warm, dynamic, and visually engaging environment.
Project Name: Chubbies La Mexicana
Studio Name: Faci Leboreiro

The design concept is inspired by Filiulfo, the brand’s mascot: a friendly, cheerful, and endearing “chubby” character. The restaurant is envisioned as his home -a place that invites guests to feel comfortable and welcome, just as Filiulfo would treat them in his own house. This idea comes to life through soft, organic forms that define the space, emerging directly from the character’s morphology.

The orange ceiling arches create a playful, enveloping perspective; the fluid blue shapes of the bar, and the smooth, cozy surfaces of the booths and the cashier area ceiling give the atmosphere a unique character -balanced between aesthetics and functionality. These architectural elements are not only visually striking but also designed to foster comfort and accessibility, encouraging guests to enjoy a relaxed moment with friends and family.

The restaurant’s façade, which opens onto the fountains at Parque La Mexicana, is carefully designed to stand out from the outside, while the terrace and orange arches clearly define the dining area, offering a legible and inviting spatial reading from the street. Adjacent to this are the cashier, service areas, condiment stations, and the kitchen entrance, all aligned along a compositional axis that facilitates circulation. These functions are clearly marked with yellow signage, creating a vibrant and striking contrast within the overall composition.

One of Chubbies’ most notable features is its spatial flexibility. Tables and chairs can be freely rearranged to suit the number of guests and type of gathering, resulting in a versatile, adaptable dining environment.
The project successfully fuses brand identity with an interior design that encourages interaction and comfort. Materials, furniture, decor, lighting, and color palette are all in dialogue with the brands’s graphic image and cores values, achieving seamless integration between architecture, interior design, and the culinary experience.

Chubbies is not just a restaurant, but a clear example of how architecture can enhance the customer experience -making each visit memorable not only for its food, but for the space that frames it. In every design detail, the restaurant demonstrates how functionality and aesthetics can coexist harmoniously, offering guests a place where they feel part of something greater.
