The basis of design with all its finesse detailing and excellence lies in the hands of its creator. When the designed was approached by the young couple In their late twenties for their new home, the  first thought that came to my mind is here is a set of well-travelled, knowledgeable , smart individuals whom home should be a reflections of their individual personalities yet blend into one cohesive outcome.

I was asked to use material which was strong, durable and maintainable over the years. They wanted their home to be chic but stand the test of time. They did not want it to be a showcase of paraphernalia put together but a creation of space dominated by function.

This duplex house situated in an affluent neighborhood of Mumbai was presented to us in a complete raw state. We had to subdivide this large space into a series of spaces as well as create connectivity but wanted a staircase. We took to his an created a floating staircase between the levels in beige travertine marble as the background palette and treads, risers in Burberry beige marble with a combination of glass and wood for the handrail.

The floor plate of the house is uniformly covered with Burberry beige marble with an accent of a wooden floor in the study / master suite. Walls predominantly off white in color, adorned with a few art panels each having their own story to tell. This apartment is divided at two levels with the main master suite , the living, dining, powder room, kitchen servants quarter and large balcony on one level.

The lower level housing two children’s bedroom with ensuite bathrooms and walk in closets . The main living area has two sets of comfy sofa seating’s bound together with a superfine rug. The living extends into a dining area with a customized square glass top dining table for eight people.

The dining and living are tied together but yet divided by a wood and onyx server bar. The customized bell chandelier in amber created in Arjun Rathi Glass Studio is the focal point of the dining ceiling
