Our latest collaboration with a young couple, their child, and their parents, resulted in the transformation of a newly purchased resale home into a haven of warmth and character. After experiencing numerous homes and cities, the family desired a residence that truly felt like home. Here’s how we meticulously crafted each space to resonate with their vision.

A Warm Welcome: The Entrance
The entrance sets the tone for the entire home with its earthy hues. The main door, painted in terracotta, stands proudly against a cement-textured backdrop, offering a rustic yet contemporary appeal. Teakwood hooks on either side of the door provide both functionality and a nostalgic touch, hinting at the thoughtful simplicity that defines the home’s interior.
Living and Dining Area: Seamless Sophistication
Spanning 1550 square feet, the apartment’s living room seamlessly merges with an open dining area, subtly distinguished by a level change. This architectural nuance enhances the sense of spaciousness and fluidity. The dining area is anchored by a striking teakwood table set, polished in black, complemented by black polished leaping ornamentation on the storage units, adding a refined edge to the decor.
The ceiling in the living area continues the terracotta theme, creating a cohesive, warm ambiance. Natural light floods the space through east-facing windows, amplifying therustic charm of the terracotta tones. The open electrical conduit on the ceiling, a design choice to minimize the use of POP in the Mivan construction, adds to the simplicity. A minimalist TV unit paired with oxidized patina copper pendant lights maintains a clean, uncluttered aesthetic, emphasizing both style and functionality.
The Heart of the Home: The Kitchen
In the kitchen, vibrant carrot punch hues blend with sophisticated grey tones, creating a welcoming and energetic environment. The protruded opening ingeniously incorporates storage solutions, making the kitchen not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. This space is designed to be the heart of the home, where culinary creativity can thrive.
Parents’ Bedroom: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Modernity
The parents’ bedroom features a dual-tone wooden palette, creating a striking visual contrast. The teakwood wardrobe stands against the ash wood textured bedside, while open shelving along the wardrobe adds practical elegance. A volumetric, low-seating mandir serves as a focal point, reflecting the parents’ traditional values within a modern design context. This room is a serene retreat that honors their preferences while providing contemporary comfort.
Kid’s Bedroom: Playful Serenity
Wrapped in soothing blue shades, the kid’s bedroom exudes lightness and openness. A playful platform bed harmonizes with simple oak wood tones, crafting a space that is both whimsical and restful. This room is designed to nurture creativity and play, while maintaining a tranquil atmosphere for sleep and relaxation.
Master Bedroom: Subtle Elegance
The master bedroom embodies subtle sophistication, aligning with the wife’s desire for a serene space. A palette of whites paired with wooden accents creates a calming and elegant environment. Ample storage solutions are discreetly integrated, ensuring the room remains clutter-free. This space is a perfect blend of tranquility and refined taste, offering a personal sanctuary for relaxation.
Thoughtful Storage Solutions: Functional Elegance
One of the project’s key challenges was to incorporate extensive storage solutions that cater to the family’s diverse needs. We designed specialized storage units for linens, shoes, toys, ties, purses, stoles, bangles, and dupattas. Each unit is seamlessly integrated into the overall design, ensuring a harmonious look throughout the apartment. These solutions not only meet practical needs but also enhance the home’s aesthetic appeal.
A Homely Haven: The Essence of Design
If the essence of this house had to be captured in a single word, it would be “homely.” Every space is meticulously crafted to be both functional and inviting, avoiding any designelements that might become eyesores.
