Conceptually, the Scott Edwards Architecture Headquarters addition and renovation project took inspiration from integrating old and new. The original headquarters building was built in 1947 and uses bowstring trusses as the main structural supporting element.

The decision to use mass timber as part of the hybrid structural system for the addition highlights this newer building technology and advancements in wood construction between the two buildings.

Now one building, the two spaces tell a unified story. The project is purposeful in its commitment to preserve, innovate, and connect to people and place.

The building is both meaningful for the occupants as a comfortable workplace and an important addition to the neighborhood as a beacon of forward-looking design.
