As of 2019, we’ve over 90,000 CoA-registered Indian Architects, practicing independently or with other Architects, Engineers and Developers co-creating the environment that we all share.
It is no easy task to shortlist tens of thousands of Architecture Firms/ Indian Architects into Top 350, and we have certainly tried our best to live up to the task. This was also an opportunity to separate the wheat from the chaff and express appreciation for the firms shaping Indian Architecture in the 21st century. The following criteria guided the shortlisting of firms:
- Scale of Projects
- Number of cities projects are executed in
- Participation in Competitions
- Experimentation in Construction Details
- Conceptual Experimentation
- Development over years of practice
- Concern for the Environment
- Clarity of Presentation
- Academic involvement
- Style
The following factors have NOT been considered during the making of this list:
- Typology of Projects the firm is active in
- Location of the firm
- Years of practice
- Range of scope of services
- Number of employees / Size of firm
However, please note that: In order to keep the list relevant to young Architects, only contemporary active firms have been included in the list. That means, we had to exclude many Architects who have guided the evolution of Indian Architecture; Architects like Charles Correa, Laurie Baker, and Nari Gandhi, as their firms are no longer active. However, their works continue to inspire us and you will find many young firms listed below that are following their footsteps.
