On October 17, 1911, the inhabitants of Chula Vista voted to incorporate. In November, the state approved the city’s incorporation. Greg Rogers, a former Clevelander who was also the Chula Vista Yacht Club president, was one of the city’s first council members. The yacht club would be the first on the West Coast to construct race-specific boats, resulting in a one-of-a-kind sloop. On F Street, a Carnegie Library was established in 1915. Farm laborers from China, the Philippines, and Mexico farmed the city’s fields in the 1910s, with the majority traveling in from Downtown San Diego and Logan Heights.
