First, please understand that this is not a complete list, Phuket is home to around thirty beaches, the following are a selection of some of the most famous and favoured!

Mai Khao Beach – This is Phuket’s Longest Beach, stretching 10 kilometres along the northwest coast of the island. A portion of this pristine beach is a nature sanctuary for nesting endangered sea turtles and is part of the Sirinat National Park which ensues its great natural beauty will be preserved for future generations of nature lovers to enjoy. You can join a canoe expedition into the mysterious gloom of the mangrove forests, or paddle through quiet lagoons teeming with sea life. Just offshore you will find a coral reef that’s perfect for snorkelling! Mai Khao Beach’s southern end is adjacent to the Phuket International Airport where people like to gather to watch the planes coming in across the water to land, a noisy and exciting experience!

Bangtao Beach –  The six kilometres long expanse of Bangtao Beach stretches along Phuket’s west coast, making it the island’s second-longest beach. Bangtao Beach provides a pleasant reprieve from its crowded, noisy neighbour to the south, Patong Beach, Bangtao is the perfect place to take long, quiet walks and enjoy some solitude between the verdant interior and the shimmering sea. The southern end of the beach is home to some of Phuket’s best beach clubs where you can indulge in luxurious amenities and enjoy superb seafood by the seaside. Because it faces west, Bangtao Beach is the ideal place to enjoy watching the sun set over the gorgeous Andaman Sea while sipping a cool and colourful cocktail!

Layan Beach –  This little-known, serene, and lovely beach begins at the northern end of Bangtao Beach. This hidden gem is blessed with tranquil shores and sparkling waters, and is a favourite of the locals as well as the island’s expat community. The far end of Layan Beach is marked by the mouth of the Kala River, its fresh waters flowing ceaselessly out into the Andaman Sea. Koh Kala island lies picturesquely just off the beach, between it and the surrounding ocean where fishing boats dot the turquoise sea.

Surin Beach – This quiet, clean, and serene beach is one of the most beautiful in Phuket, with lovely scenery- pure, white sand next to an alluring sapphire sea, it’s the perfect place to have a swim or relax beneath the palms.
