As the times are changing, we get to witness one of the biggest revolutions the world has ever seen. Straight out of science fiction books and stories, we get to see AI entering this world. Many are afraid that AI will take over their jobs, other think AI will be the best thing to happen to the world in terms of help. What it actually turns out to be can only be determined by the future itself.
For now, though, we can estimate the actions already in front of us to determine the consequences that might show up in the coming future. From where we already stand in terms of AI, there are those AI models that are available to use publicly, and then there are those that are still in the works, but we get to see or read about them on social media. Even tech geniuses like Elon Musk and Sam Altman hint at overpowered AI models, which are still in development due to lack of limitations.
According to CyberGhost, we might be on our way to constructing a monster, and I agree. Even though AI is not nearly as threatening right now, it is always learning and progressing, which means it is constantly evolving.
Even though famous techies say that they are limiting the capabilities of superintelligent AI models, who’s to say that AI will not be able to learn to bypass those restrictions someday? I doubt that AI will be able to surpass whatever terms of control we establish on it. Plus, AI is learning from human interaction and the data we provide it, and it is no secret how humans tend to be sometimes.
To me, it is not even a bit doubtful that AI will have human biases. The way I see the situation, it is unavoidable for humans to act unbiased in many situations regardless of their difficulty level. So the more that AI sees and understands the basics of bias, it will practice that concept to a level of perfection like any other thing AI learns.
In a live-streamed interview with Elon Musk, he forecasted the superhuman AI will be ready by next year and will far exceed any individual human despite potential limitations imposed on it. This only makes us wonder where the AI will stop once it has started to surpass human intelligence. It is easy to assume that it will keep learning new things until there are new things, meaning it will be tough to stop AI if things do go sideways.
While I am a believer in the theory that we can not avoid bias in AI as long as we cut it at the roots, this can only be done if we try to incorporate unbiasedness in AI’s learnings. The two main culprits behind AI learning bias are biased data and algorithmic bias. That is where you can control the flow of information that goes to AI. By making AI trainers inhibit data and learning specifically keeping in mind to avoid bias.
Just one person or a group can not fulfill the responsibility of eradicating bias from AI in places it already is. There have to be strict policies and guidelines for developers who are training the AI, and these guidelines have to be followed by every developer training AI regardless of their location and status. After all, we have seen in films just a glimpse of what AI takeover would look like.
Wrapping Up
The whole debate of AI taking over human tasks is pointless, as we all know that AI will prove to be better than most humans at performing tasks perfectly and efficiently. Yet humans will always be the ones who keep sight and control over AI activities and capabilities. So, as long as AI is not conscious, there is absolutely nothing to worry about, but as soon as conscious AI models start showing up, I’m quite sure we’ll get to witness something we never have before.
