The owners of this 310m² apartment, located in the Itaim neighborhood of São Paulo, wanted ample space to highlight the family’s extensive collection of contemporary art.
Project Name: Apartment Itaim
Studio Name: DB Arquitetos – David Bastos

Thinking about functionality and integration between spaces, David Bastos revamped the entire social area of the property, making it fluid and welcoming. Walls that delimited the entrance hall, living room and balcony were eliminated, in addition to one of the suites, which was also removed to further expand the social area.

The base of the apartment was as neutral as possible, so that the works became the highlight. Limestone flooring, leather furniture, wood, fabrics and linen curtains in brown and beige make up the palette in essential colors to make the home more cozy and welcoming, serving as a backdrop for heavy works of art.
Among them are paintings by Carlito Carvalhosa and Rodolpho Parigi, sculptures by Ascânio MMM and Knopp Ferro, and kinetic works by Abraham Palatnik and Jesús Rafael Soto.

The home theater, which also follows a neutral line in furniture and coverings, received an “L” shaped sofa to accommodate the family and ensure comfort. The touch of color appears in the decorative pieces of the shelf, made to measure.
