The inspiration for the project was the summer heat and the growing need to spend the summer in our own home, where we will fulfill our recreational needs. Due to the pandemic, we want to stay at home more and more often, especially in summer when it is hot and we want to use the pool and shade. A house with an overhang makes it possible to make such dreams come true.

The design of a single-family house is characterized by an unusual suspension that extends towards the elongated garden, while covering the terrace and the pool area. A narrow plot and a long plot (14.9 m x 116.43 m) as well as a significant rainfall caused us to arrange the house in such a way as to use them as advantages.

However, responding to the problems posed by the plot area, we managed to create an unusual project. It was the plot that defined the very oblong shape of the solid, and thanks to the unevenness of the ground, the living area was slightly recessed in relation to the ground floor, giving it a higher, larger space illuminated from both sides. The whole is made of two elongated cuboidal blocks placed one on another, however, in order to increase dynamics, the first floor has been significantly moved away from the ground floor, creating a characteristic overhang.

The raised living room is a total of almost 100 sq m with a mezzanine over 7 meters high with a separate dining and lounge area with an atypical fireplace. Such a large space was divided by a fireplace, which was proposed in the center as a sculptural massive element that hangs from the very ceiling of the upper story.. The living room is also decorated with openwork stairs that slightly separate the area from the partially open kitchen.

The plan of the house is divided into 3 zones on the ground floor: entrance zone with garage space, living room zone with adjacent kitchen, and spa zone. Similarly, on the first floor, the middle zone of the living room allows access to two independent zones of the bedroom.

On the roof, there is an overflow through the attic wall, which allows the use and drainage of rainwater during rain and their ecological use – the water flows directly into the pool, where it will be filtered.

Lighting is located under the overhang, which will create an atmosphere during summer evenings on the terrace, and unusual hanging garden furniture. Taking advantage of a very extensive garden, a swimming pool zone was proposed, which, also due to the slope of the ground, was placed lower than the terrace part. For greater effect, an impressive garden fountain was designed, fitting into the descending terrain.
