This project involved the opening – up of a tired and poky ground floor garden flat into a spacious, light filled open-plan family home. The former half width extension was replaced with a full width structure adding much needed floor space for the young family. Full height glass doors run the entire width of the extension creating a sense of openness allowing the garden to be enjoyed from all angles. A side courtyard has been created allowing daylight deep into the plan.

Openings to the existing structure have deliberately been kept small to minimize cost, yet the effectiveness of these apertures should not be understated; connecting spaces and creating interesting views.

The white on white interior expresses the simplicity of the scheme, with white joinery and Corian worktops to match.

The white continues outside in the oversized sliding doors, with white cladding also fabricated from Corian. Large yellow doors frame the view, adding to the playfulness of this cost effective scheme.
