The client asked us to design an apartment inside of two fractions on the top of an under-construction building. They wanted a four rooms apartment with unified social areas and increased exterior spaces.

Being under-construction gave us the possibility to introduce a patio around which revolve the kitchen, the dining area and the living room. From here we defined the main axis which runs longitudinally across the house, dividing the social and private areas.

TEAM CV’s:

MIGUEL ROQUE

Graduated in architecture by the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and the RWTH Aachen (Germany), he has advanced studies in architectonic and urban culture and is a PhD student in the field of Portuguese modern architecture. He was junior teacher of Design Studio at the University of Coimbra and adjunct editor of Docomomo International in several publications about modern architecture preservation. He worked as an architect at AmP Arquitectos (Spain), at Telhabel SA(Portugal) and was co-founder of OAC arquitectos which in 2018 merged into RAS·A.

PAULO VALE AFONSO

Graduated in architecture at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and NTNU Trondheim (Norway). After an internship in OAB – Carlos Ferrater Partnership in Barcelona, he moves to Peru in 2011 where he joins 51-1 Arquitectos, the peruvian branch of Supersudaca, where, as a project leader, he was responsible for the design and delivery of major projects.

In 2012, he co-founded AMA where, until 2014, developed mainly educational projects in remote areas in the Peruvian jungle, amongst which Chuquibambilla School, Second Award winner in World Habitat and Social Development in the XIX Bienal Panamericana de Quito 2014 and finalist in the “Oscar Niemeyer” Award of Latin-American Architecture 2016, and Mazaronkiari Multipurpose Hall, finalist in the X Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura y Urbanismo.

Has been shortlisted as one of the 10 architects/studios worldwide to the Début Award for architects under the age of 35 of the 4th Lisbon Architecture Triennale in 2016, and his work has been presented in conferences and published worldwide.

Since 2015 he is based in Portugal, where he works through his own studio along with several collaborations.

RUI SANTOS

Graduated in architecture by the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and NTNU Trondheim (Norway). After an internship in MAB Arquitectura (Barcelona) and VORA Arquitectura (Barcelona), he moves to Cyprus in 2010, where he worked for MCA Architecture (Nicosia) and collaborated with AA&U (Nicosia), working in several projects of various scales.
In 2012 he moves to Portugal, where he was the co-founder of OAC Arquitectos, which in 2018 merged into RAS·A.
