The design process began with an intimate understanding of the family’s lifestyle. The client, a senior citizen living with his extended family spanning four generations, envisioned a home that honoured their cultural roots, expressed individual identities, and embraced a modern, elegant aesthetic. Their wish list included two unique kitchens: one lively and nurturing in character, the other refined and suited for social gatherings. Additionally, every family member desired a space that felt uniquely their own.
Storeyboard Design approached the project with empathy and precision, engaging in extensive consultations to interpret the needs and desires of each generation and craft a cohesive design language that celebrates their diversity.

The overarching narrative of the home is a curated blend of bold Indian motifs and contemporary luxury. A dynamic colour palette courses through the spaces, from the sophisticated blacks, beiges, and golds of the master bedroom to the spirited tones animating the children’s rooms. The formal living room becomes a statement zone with its rich green sofa and printed accent chair, while the family living area radiates warmth through a rust-toned sofa that carries its essence into the mother’s room. Heritage cues appear throughout: intricately crafted CNC doors with religious symbols mark the puja room, and Indian-inspired motifs bring depth to the grandmother’s room. Personal touches that include displays for travel memorabilia lend an emotional narrative to the interiors.
The home also maintains a strong dialogue with its urban context. Large windows and generous balconies draw in natural light, creating inviting pockets for leisure and reflection. Though unified through a warm and elegant aesthetic, each room stands apart through its intentional materiality and detailing. Intelligent storage solutions address the practical demands of a multi-generational household without compromising on style.

A walk through the home reveals the intentionality behind each design gesture. The master bedroom merges luxury with practicality, wrapped in plush textures and deep tones, and includes a dedicated zone for music practice. The children’s rooms burst with vibrancy and clever storage: one daughter’s room features a pink-and-grey palette inspired by her love for dance, while the second daughter’s space, rendered in pastel greens and beiges, cultivates an atmosphere of curiosity and playful calm for her young son. The puja room stands as a sacred focal point being peaceful, intricately detailed, and adorned with handcrafted CNC doors and revered sculptures. The balconies extend the living spaces, offering tranquil garden retreats. The dual kitchens reinforce the family’s lifestyle: the sunny yellow kitchen radiates positivity, while the elegant blue-and-white kitchen brings a refined charm suited for hosting.
Strategic space planning was central to making the home function seamlessly. The team successfully merged two independent layouts into a cohesive whole, with flexible spaces that adapt from work to leisure with ease. Custom cabinetry and inventive shelving create dedicated zones for keepsakes and daily essentials. The design thoughtfully bridges generational needs, ensuring accessibility for elders and stimulating environments for younger members.

The project also demanded careful problem-solving. Integrating two distinct structural units required innovative planning, unified through consistent flooring and material choices that created a fluid spatial flow. Balancing the differing aesthetic tastes and functional needs of four generations was achieved by tailoring spaces to individual preferences while sustaining an overarching aesthetic harmony.
Materials played a crucial role in shaping the home’s refined character. Warm wood and elegant tiles anchor the flooring; textured paints, expressive wall panels, mirrors, and wallpapers add dimension; and bespoke furniture crafted from marble, leather, suede, and metal offers durability with style. Upholstery in velvets, silks, and rich cottons elevates comfort, while brass and gold accents introduce a gentle, regal sheen across key spaces.

The Cosy Nest is a reflection of Storeyboard Design’s ability to create deeply personal, multilayered homes. It seamlessly unites generations and celebrates individual expression while fostering togetherness. From its dual kitchens and expressive rooms to the serene puja space, this residence stands as a shining example of design excellence tailored to the nuanced demands of a multi-generational family.
